5.0 out of 5 stars Memories of a Time Long Ago 18 Jan 2008

Format:Paperback
I just received this book and immediately read it from cover to cover. It is a wonderful, extensive, and well-presented collection of ephemera, post cards, photos, drawings, etc., from Manhattan's Chinatown (NYC) of long ago. What a perfect way for this generation to look back and get some insight into the way their ancestors lived and how their community looked. So much of our past gets lost from generation to generation, but now Chinatown's has come alive, and will remain so, in the pages of this book. Kudos to the authors. (Gail S.)

I love old pictures of people and places and this book brings me back to the world my parents and grandparents knew. I didn't know my paternal grandfather, but I picture him among the merchants and imagine his store on Doyers Street.
