the review says that no camera bag should be without one and I absolutely agree. Remember though that to make it work you must buy a spigot as well. The spigot is a pin that allows things to screw to the clamp.

I use mine to attach flash guns to place in otherwise awkward positions and I have also attached my camera to it then mounted it on a bicycle for some slow shutter speed shots.

Industrial it sure is, but a great tool for those times when you wished you had another pair of hands to help out.

No, they're not cheap, but once you've used one you won't want to be without at least a couple in your kit bag. These are substantial, heavy duty clamps which will fix anything to anything. Sure, a spigot is useful but not essential. They'll support 15kg apparently. Try to get one with a grip insert included...it slots into one side of the jaw and is very useful for holding non-tubular items; reflector boards or square section stuff.

It's only once you get this in your hands that you realise it's a serious bit of kit. It's quite weighty, can obviously grip VERY tightly onto pretty much anything and even says on the side that it will hold 15kg!! At under £20 it's well worth having.
Downside is you'll need to use it with a ball and socket head of some sort to fit anything to it and mine (from H.PRESTON MEDIA) didn't appear to be new even though the seller said it was.

Manfrotto Super Clamps are heavy duty photographic clamps used to attach stuff to stuff. I have two of these, connected by a Manfrotto Adapter Spigot to each other. Depending on what you are going to use them for, you may also need a Stud.

With two of these you can attach light stands to each other, Speedlights to bits of scaffolding, and generally hold things that weren't meant to be held to things which weren't meant to hold them with the kind of security you need when putting expensive cameras and lights at risk.

The quality of these original Manfrottos is superb, and they've never let me down. I got them for using with Brolly adaptors, but ended up using them as well for anything that needed to be done.

The only downside is that they are big and heavy -- more to go in the lighting bag than the camera bag, if you value your back.

Essential kit, though.

Manfrotto Super Clamp is a superb product without a doubt, but just wanted to highlight that it comes with a wedge (which is not clearly visible in the product image and not mentioned in the description) So its not necessary to buy "Manfrotto Wedges for Super Clamp (Pack of 4)" as suggested/recommended by amazon in "Frequently Bought Together" section (unless you explicitly wanted to buy 4 wedges ).

I find this clamp easier to carry round rather than a tripod. It also clamps on to the handle of my shopping trolley and on my mobility scooter and it holds it quite firm. I also have an old mini tripod that I have been able to connect to it s bolt thing of the correct thread that I already had. It is very handy and small to carry.

I've owned cheaper clamps before which haven't been bad quality, I just wouldn't trust them to be clamped on anything but a desk or table. This on the other hand... Gains my trust fully and I can see why it has been getting so many good reviews!

I actually only stumbled across this product because I've recently been buying some Manfrotto products and was so impressed with the quality (and some of which have price tags that want to make you cry), that I decided to just search for other Manfrotto products and stumbled across this which I thought was actually very decently priced!

Depending on your needs, you may want to go for the Camera Stud which has a 1/4" & 3/8" screw mount to enable mounting of your camera or ball head etc...

The quality of the clamp seems seems extremely high in quality, apart from the leavers which are made out of fairly tough plastic, the rest is all metal and feels completely solid.

I found the clamp easy to set-up and the grip it provides is phenomenal.

When people said they can't do without they really aren't joking. I'll be bringing mine wherever I go that's for certain!
