Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Newly redesigned, the 190XPROB makes the famous Manfrotto-patented horizontal-centre-column feature even easier to use. Now, by extending the column to its highest vertical position, it can be swung round to horizontal without removing the head or disassembling the column itself, making switching between framing and positioning setups more convenient than ever. The ergonomics of the leg angle-release mechanism and the quick-action leg locks themselves have also been greatly improved.

Box Contains

4.0 out of 5 stars Light weight option, 26 Aug 2009

This review is from: Manfrotto 190XPROB Tripod Legs Only - Black (Electronics)
When it comes to tripods there are 3 factors to consider ,stability ,weight and price.

If you are on a budget and are looking for a good ,stable and light tripod that you can carry in long walks ,look no more .Although it weights 1800 grams it can take nearly 5000 grams ( medium D-SLR plus a large telephoto ) and can switch from vertical to horizontal framing very easily.

Is not as stable as its predecesors the 055 but it has the feel of a professional tripod.

4 1/2 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Good weight for a days photography., 22 Dec 2009
This review is from: Manfrotto 190XPROB Tripod Legs Only - Black (Electronics)
This tripod is a very good place to start, it does most things that most people will want to do and it is light enough to carry all day. Carries easily in a camera back pack or Manfrotto bag. Fit your camera and lens on top put your camera strap across your body and carry it at your side, ready for use. (Weather Permitting). It can be slightly unstable in very strong winds, as I found out recently, with some shaky pictures.
For long exposure shots it will do OK in most conditions, but, I will be getting something a bit more stable for that, when I can afford it. For now I am still very happy to use this tripod.
For an idea of what it can take weight wise, I have used it with an EOS 7D and grip and Sigma 150 - 500 lens, the photos turned out well.
I have had this tripod for 3 years, without any malfunctions. I use it a lot.
Extremely well made product as usual by Manfrotto, Amazon's price is extremely keen!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Italian style, 1 Dec 2009
By Mr. Lorne R. Carlile - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Manfrotto 190XPROB Tripod Legs Only - Black (Electronics)
I ordered this mated with a Manfrotto 460MG head as a direct replacement for an aging Uniloc system.

Although the Uniloc offers a very flexible and stable platform, it is a bit cumbersome and timely to erect, and I hoped that the Manfrotto combination would prove quicker and more convenient. I was proven right.

Having taken the time to go to a nearby branch of Jessops to compare my original choice of the Giottos MTL series with the Manfrotto (both in store), I instantly switched to the 190XPROB based upon my immediate appreciation of the superior design and engineering. The whole assembly just oozes quality.

Despite a modest weight, the tripod legs are very sturdy- with very positive quick-release catches, and a beautifully engineered cast-metal catch atop each leg to allow silky smooth independant movement. The only criticism echoed by others is the (relatively) poorer performance when fully extended and the column raised to its highest- but given that I rarely adopt such height and needed the flexibility at lower heights where I commonly frame and compose shots, this is a minor point for me. I seem to spend more time croutching, or on my knees, in front of the view finder- and this is where the 190XPROB excells- but I have no complaint with the tripod when fully extended and supporting my Pentax K20D with battery grip. However, others with heavier DSLRs may wish to compare with the 055XPROB.

Highly recommended!
