Please note that while Manfrotto specify that this will support a DSLR up to 1.5Kg, my Nikon D200 + 18-70 kit lens cannot be supported, the legs gracefully collapse under that weight (1.3Kg). I'd suggest a maximum limit is probably closer to 1Kg, but even then I'm not sure that I'd trust it.
It's a shame because it's a nice idea, but suitable for lightweight entry level DSLRs only.

I'm Italian, and I'm not very proud to tell that an Italian product is so poor. Manfrotto is a good firm, as its tripods and heads are good, I've been using one of them for a serious work and it did well, but this item is a complete failure, as it's not able to bear the weight of a DSLR as Manfrotto claims. It can barely hold the weight of a Nikon D 90 with a 35 mm lens, and all this with the legs carefully placed in a useless position for my purposes. If I try to put the camera in another position or to use heavier lenses, the legs open themselves and all the stuff goes to rest on the table. This item can hardly bear a light compact camera. Wasted money, at last.

Bought very last minute. It arrived the day before I was due to fly. I did take the time to read other reviews and on that basis placed the order. This review however will simply echo the others. The principle is good. Small and compact, easily fits into the case whilst fixed onto the camera, so always ready for action. I really hoped that it would support the camera (EOS 550D) with the 70mm-300mm lens on but alas. That would have been my ideal. It will balance but the legs collapse. It is really up to no more that supporting the camera and standard lens. Horses for courses I guess, but it could be so much more with stiffer joints on the legs. Overall quite a good product, well designed but lacking strength.

I bought the large version of this product as it was advertised as being capable of supporting a dslr. I used it on a recent trip to London, where I only took a Nikon D80 and a 35mm f1.8 lens. This pocket support failed miserably to support my camera, unless all three of the legs were positioned so that the camera is horizontal. Any other angle and it just collapsed under the weight! I had better results using my iPhone under the front of the lens to hold the camera in position.

very good idea it means you always have a tripod with you especially for night time shots so long as you can find a convenient spot to rest your camera
