The tripod is nicely made, all-metal, feels very solid and folds up very small.
It can easily support a full-sized SLR with standard zoom (e.g. Canon EOS 20D with 17-40L), but only in landscape orientation - if you turn the camera on its side to portrait mode, it will topple over.
For lighter compact cameras, this wouldn't be a problem.

Tiny, robust, and beautifully made, the 709B can be carried in a trouser pocket, or the corner of a camera bag.
The tripod legs open very wide, giving it tremendous stability. Ideal for compact cameras, but can also handle a full-size SLR equipped with a mid-sized lens comfortably in landscape mode.
A great piece of kit for those occasional group photos when you're on holiday and want to include yourself in the group (and don't want to ask a stranger to take your picture with your camera).

This is a great pocket tripod. I've used it several times with my Canon 5dmk2 and 24-105f4 without any trouble. Of course, it cannot replace a proper tripod, but I find it very convenient for night city walks with occasional shooting.

Great for Strobist's too...
I purchased this to use with my Canon 580EXII with a Lastolite Ezybox Speedlite softbox as my other mini tripods couldn't cope with the weight. This one does... easily!
