Ill keep this short and to the point.. The 701HDV head from Manfrotto is a cheap and capable fluid cartridge based head.. Its very light in operation, meaning there is no real firm drag from the fluid cartridges and it does take a few hours to get accustomed to this, but only if you've previously been spoilt using larger more expensive heads with adjustable drag.. I would rate this head much much higher if it had adjustable drag but dont let this put you off, its still a nice and very usable head for the videographer on a shoestring budget. Ive just come back from covering an equestrian event in the Lake District and I thought id take this head along with me and get used to it. At first it seemed too slack and I was overshooting a lot on both axis, but after a while I discovered a feather touch was the best method and got totally usable results from it.. So even though I have given this head 3 stars, OK rating, it's because I came from using satchler and German fluid heads that are pretty darn sweet.. but for what it is and the price this head is very good! just make sure you have a careful and light touch with your pans and tilts and your good..
