Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

A quick and easy accessory for carrying your tripod when walking, hiking, cycling or just getting from shoot to shoot. Use the shorter straps to fasten the padded 401N to one of the legs of your tripod, bind the remaining legs together using the longer adjustable quick release straps, sliding the tripod over your shoulder and you’re ready to go, with your hands free to grab those vital last minute items.

The padding helps hold the tripod in place and protects your back from bruises and chaffi ng. The 401N even stays attached to your tripod when shooting (all you need to do is release the longer quick release straps so you can manoeuvre and position all three legs), so you’re always ready to capture the images you want, but also always ready to move off again to the next location.

I bought this for carrying my Manfrotto 055XPROB Tripod Legs Only - Black which have a Manfrotto Junior Geared Head attached. Together they weigh the best part of 3.5Kg, and in my view are a bit too heavy for strapping onto my backpack, so I bought this quick action strap instead.

I considered other straps (I wasn't interested in a tripod bag - I wanted something quick and easy when out and about), but worried that the tripod/head combination would be just too heavy and/or too uncomfortable for a simple strap system.

The quick action strap is one of the more expensive ones from Monfrotto - when I ordered I was abit worried that I was buying the name rather a solid product but I needn't have. The strap itself is quite large - just shorter in length than one of the tripod legs (collapsed), but wider than the tripod itself due to the padding. It fits onto one leg of the tripod using a system of three velcro secured straps. At first the use of velcro might sound a bit flimsy, but believe me it fits very securely. Each strap wraps round the entire circumference of the leg and doubles over, so the tripod doesn't go anywhere once attached. Two further quick release straps then go around the other two legs clamping all three together ready for carrying (although I've found in practise that you can get away without doing this second part - it seems to be just as secure). Furthermore all of the connecting straps can be moved up or down in position to suit whatever tripod you attach it to. It's very well thought out.

I love serious walks, Photography and landscapes. For many years I have been looking for the Holy Grail of camera bags only to find that it doesn't necessarily exist. My wife bought me a Manfrotto 055CXPRO3 Carbon Fibre 3 Section Lightweight Tripod Manfrotto MH054M0-Q5 054 Magnesium Ball Head which is perfect in every possible way for the types of pictures I take but a little large for my existing bags. I purchased this to help cover a small event and have never looked back I now use a lowepro utility belt with a couple quick lens changers for lens filters and kit and carry my camera free. It is a great shoulder strap, very comfortable, adjustable and very well made. if your looking at it get it you wont be disappointed.
