5.0 out of 5 stars Great Chord Book 30 April 2006
By Rosey
Format:Paperback
This chord book is great, so often small chord books only have a few chords in them and miss out some of the most important ones or you get some enormous encyclopedia with 10,000 chords. This is perfect - 1000 chords, is all you will need for quite sometime! But also a short lesson on chord construction and a fingerboard chart of the mandolin neck, which is always useful. Easy to understand and find chords. Even has a few pages of sheet music at the back if you fancy writing a song once you've learnt some chords. I've given it a 5 but do have one complaint, it probably would be better if it was ringbounnd as easier to leave open at a page but at the price £3.95 you can't really complain. Get it. You won't be sorrry

5.0 out of 5 stars All you need to know 17 April 2012
By Stevo
Format:Sheet music|Verified Purchase
As a guitarist of 30 odd years I purchased a mandolin on a whim - heard one at a recent gig and the sound convinced me I should have one! If you're a guitarist and are just looking for the chord shapes on mandolin this book's great. Having never played (or indeed even touched) a mandolin before, I was getting a tune out of it in less than an hour - with the help of this chord book. If you're new to stringed instruments this is probably still worth having as a reference book, but it won't teach you how to play. However, it does what it says on the tin and has helped me greatly to get started - first gig playing my mandolin is next week!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for a beginner! 18 Sept. 2009
Format:Sheet music|Verified Purchase
My husband took up the mandolin earlier this year after spending years playing the guitar. He keeps this in the bag so that he can check chords when learning a new tune!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very convenient 17 Sept. 2012
Format:Sheet music|Verified Purchase
This is an excellent resource. The chords are well laid out and there's just about everything you'd ever need. It's fun to spend time identifying how the shapes fit together and this collection enables ssomeone with limited musical knowledge to get a grasp of how an extra finger here or an open string there forms additional chords. Highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great for reference 22 Mar. 2013
By Eggy
Format:Sheet music|Verified Purchase
Though it would probably be better if it had a ringbinder on the side instead of just a normal book, this is great for reference and the bit at the beginning is pretty useful too.
You could definitely get all the chords on the internet and just write them out on a sheet yourself, but it's nice to have them all together and in the one place.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful reference book 5 Feb. 2012
Format:Sheet music|Verified Purchase
This is a good book to have standing by. It gives plenty of options for loads of chords (most of which I can't play!). Easy to read. Overall a useful addition to the mandolin player, either beginner or more advanced.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy chord finder 18 Feb. 2013
Format:Sheet music|Verified Purchase
Good professional chord book. Easy to find what you need, simple layout. Unfortunately it doesn't help overcome some necessary finger twisting for those particularly difficult chords - that's just physics!
