Reviews

Not since ‘99 have Manchester United fans witnessed a season like this one. Entertaining as no other team can, the Reds produced some stunning, sublime football, scoring goals for fun to secure their 17th League title on a tension-filled final day at Wigan, before travelling to Moscow for a night of the highest drama imaginable to complete an incredible double.

In a nail-biting, hearts in mouths finale, with United just one penalty kick away from defeat, their prayers were answered. A slip and a Van der Sar save was all that was needed for Fergie’s brave warriors to take advantage and capture the European Cup for a third time and fittingly, almost as destiny decreed, 50 years on from when the English pioneers of European football suffered the terrible tragedy of Munich.

Relive the glory of a truly momentous season, savour all of Ronaldo’s incredible 42 goals and hear exclusive insight from Sir Alex, Giggsy, Rio, Rooney and Carlos Tevez amongst others.

Make it a double--Champions of England and Champions of Europe.

-Ronaldo’s Goals
-Tribute to Ole

This weekend the latest season review arrived in my mailbox. It was with great anticipation that I put it in the DVD player, hoping it would live up to the standard of the previous seasons. I'm happy to say it does.

For me the following are important in a season review:

1. Easy access to all matches.
2. Chapter marks at the beginning of each match, so one can skip the interviews on repeated viewings.
3. Matches are shown chronologically.
4. All matches are included, except maybe friendlies.
5. Each match highlight includes chances from both teams.
6. The picture quality should be the best available.

This season review scores 5 stars on all points. I'm not sure how anyone can give this product one star. Maybe the poor guy's TV needs some adjusting.

And, by the way, the quality of the football, 6 stars.

Manchester United - End Of Season Review 2007/2008
Having watched the full DVD i can say that it is without doubt a great addition to any collection, with all the matches covered in what was a truly amazing roller coaster ride of a season. When watching J.Terry take his penalty i am still on tender hooks in case this time he scores ! ( and i was lucky to be in Moscow). The DVD quality is excellent on my copy so the reviewer who had a grainy copy must have been unlucky. If you are a united fan you will enjoy this over and over again, SAF once again confining his critics to the also ran section of media life.

The Manchester United 2007/08 season is widely regarded as their best season since the historic treble of 1999. Manchester United not only won the Premier League but also the Champions League and hence won `the double'.

The main highlight of the DVD is without doubt Cristiano Ronaldo's 42 goals. After a slow start to the season which consisted of 1-0 score lines and Ronaldo being red carded - the season finally erupted when Ronaldo, Tevez, Nani and Rooney started to fire goals at will. Ronaldo's apologetic celebration at Lisbon and his wonderful free kick against Portsmouth are key moments, as well as beating Barcelona through a Paul Scholes strike in the semi final of the Champions League. Ronaldo was the best footballer in the world at the time and it's great to see him at the height of his career during this season.

The presentation of the DVD is impressive. The picture is sharp and clear and every month is shown in chronological order. We get to see the Carling Cup, FA Cup and Champion's League highlights as well as the Premier League itself. At the end of every month we are shown United's position in the Premier league table. All interviews and comments are inter-linked within the actual review and not as a DVD extra and this is beneficial to our viewing. We get to hear from Sir Alex, Ferdinand, Owen Hargreaves and many others. The review is nearly two and a half hours long and there is also a `Ronaldo's goals' feature as a separate bonus segment, as well as a fitting tribute to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the form of a five minute feature. The menu is user friendly as you have an option to select individual games through the chapters option.

Every Manchester United fan knows this was one of the best season's United have had in a very long time (since 1999 in fact) and it is shown here. 156 minutes long this DVD shows every goal and all the highlights of a magnificent season.

It saw United win both the Premier league title and the Champions league and had some amazing moments throughout. United hit the back of the net 109 times and 42 of them went to the best player in the world at the time, Cristiano Ronaldo. New signing Tevez linked up well with Rooney and Ronaldo and even got 19 goals on his debut season for the reds.

Some of the best games are on here as united put 11 past Newcastle over two games and after a slow start of only scoring 1 each game they bounced back with the thrashings of Wigan 4-0, Aston villa 4-1 and Middlesbrough 4-1. This DVD will remember the stunning Nani strikes vs Tottenham and Middlesbrough, the stunning free-kick Ronaldo scored against Portsmouth, the 4-0 hammering of Arsenal in the FA cup and of course the champions league trophy coming back to old Trafford after a nerve racking penalty shoot-out in Moscow.

What A season.. What a team.. and what a DVD to watch back in years to come and remember the season United ran riot and won the famous double and played some of the best football in the world.

Now, unlike the biased Liverpool fan below, I am a United supporter. Why are the comments of people who have obviously not bought the product allowed on this review? In your rewiew writing guidelines, Amazon, you say that you don't print reviews which are spiteful. Well, this LFC fan is as spiteful as they come (admittedly a common trait on Merseyside these days). As for the comment about not buying because you can watch it on MUTV, well what garbage! Most fans will want this for posterity and to recall in the future our double winning season (even biased Liverpool fans realise that the Premier League and Champions League double beats the Premier League and FA Cup).
