Reviews

“Van der Sar’s saved it, United again. The newly crowned Champions of England are the new Champions of Europe. 2008 is another vintage year”.

One hundred and thirty years since the clubs formation, Manchester United continue to dominate the game of football both at home and abroad.

“Sustaining success is so hard, but so so sweet”.

Three European Cups, seventeen League Championships and eleven FA Cups define the illustrious history of a club that’s nurtured the most talented players ever to have graced the English game – George Best, Duncan Edwards, Sir Bobby Charlton, Eric Cantona and Ryan Giggs – and perhaps British football’s greatest ever managers – Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson.

From humble beginnings, when the workers of the Newton Heath Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway first came together to play the emerging sport of football, Manchester United has acquired a special place in the hearts of supporters everywhere to become the most famous club in the world. Built on the raw talent and fighting spirit of the ‘Busby Babes’, who thrilled crowds all over Europe before tragedy struck in Munich, their spirit and style is still evident today, encouraged by Ferguson and epitomized by the modern day superstars – Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Manchester United are still the Kings”

For the Reds of Old Trafford, Manchester United will always be the Kings.

Essentially, this product is an update of Manchester United - The Official History - Limited Edition Video [VHS]; the first two hours of the dvd are exactly as previously-published history, but the additional hour does cover six Premier League wins, 2 FA Cup wins and two European Champions League triumphs as well as a Carling Cup victory, David Beckham's exit and the emergence of Ronaldo and Rooney, among others. The new material is narrated by Clive Tyldsley (as was the original) and would not appear to have been "tacked on", had I not been familiar with the 1998 VHS publication (which I have reviewed on that product's page).

There are omissions, including the 1999 Toyota Cup victory over Palmeiras, but all-in-all a worthwhile update covering a significant period in the club's history (beginning with that treble season!). Unlike the original VHS release, it does not include a souvenir pack but for those who don't have the original, wish to replace their worn-out VHS tapes or just want an update which includes another glorious decade, it's a purchase worth making.

This is a copy of the 1996 video, which was updated in 2001 with the missing years action and again in 2008.

Are we really interested in a couple that met at the match and got married we want to see the football. Simple things like the name of the match appearing on the screen when it showed the goals would have improved things and it doesn't even show united winning the world club championship in 1999 in Tokyo. Should have been so much better.

It reveals every single detail, famous victory, manager, great players, and precious moments.
If you truly love Manchester United, you should stop reading reviews, and just buy it.
