I'm not a City fan, I'm a West Ham fan, but I grew up in the 70's during what I think was the best time for football in England.
In the days before Sky TV and saturation football coverage, The Big Match was essential viewing, presented by the suave Brian Moore.
This DVD is packed with City Legends, Summerbee, Bell, Lee, Corrigan, etc, right through to the likes of Kevin Reeves, Dave Bennett, Paul Power and so on. What's also great is that, as well as the action, it has interviews with players and managers after the games as well, which really adds to the whole viewing experience.
If you ARE a City fan, pick this up because you'll love it. If you are NOT a City fan but grew up in the 70's and 80's, pick this up anyway because you'll still love it. You can't go wrong!

For those who weren't around at the time,the Big Match dvd collection is a chance to watch football before it became the characterless,humour free,corrupt multi million pound debacle that it is today.For those of us who were,its maybe too easy to put on the rose tinted specs,after all,this was a time when clubs didn't mind letting in thousands of paying customers yet spent next to nothing on the comfort of spectators (witness the state of some of the grounds in the 70's).Also the fact that the relevant authorities spent far too long getting to grips with the hooliganism problem.I feel that the complacency shown back then has resulted in what we have today.Putting that to one side,the quality of the football on show is more impressive than even i remember!Although a (former) West Ham fan,i've picked the Man City dvd because on their day they were one of the best sides to watch.The huge Maine Road pitch lent itself to expansive football with long,accurate passing and encouraged wing play.The old chestnut of todays game being much quicker is laid to rest when you watch some of this action and,bear in mind that a lot of it was played on heavy piches(Maine Road nortorious for cutting up early in the season!)I would dearly love to see the modern players in these conditions and see how quick they are then!I have several of these dvds and i would recommend them all,the extras are superb(although these are the same for each dvd)and,on a personal note,it's nice to see them in colour as we didn't have a colour tv when i watched these first time around!

Great video. Decent footage from the games - not too long, not too brief.
