Product Description

Product Description

Judy Graham is an inspiration. Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis when she was just 26 years old, 35 years later Judy Graham is still walking, working, and is a mother to a now adult son. In this totally revised and updated edition of her groundbreaking Multiple Sclerosis, first published in 1984, she shares the natural treatments that have helped her and many others with MS stabilize or even reverse the condition.

Beginning with the effects of diet, she explains that many people with MS have been eating the wrong foods and shows which foods are good and bad, how to recognize food sensitivities, and how to correct nutritional deficiencies using dietary supplements. She also looks at reducing the body's toxic overload, whether from mercury amalgam fillings, chemicals, or medications. She presents the exercises with proven benefits for MS she has found most reliable and appropriate, such as yoga, pilates and t'ai chi and explores alternative therapies that provide relief and support to the body's efforts to control MS, including acupuncture, reflexology, shiatsu, reiki and ayurveda. Most important are the insights she provides on the effects of negative thoughts on MS. She demonstrates how a positive mental attitude can actually slow down or even reverse the progression of this disease. Judy Graham is living proof that, as devastating as a diagnosis of MS is, life can still be lived to its fullest.

'If I had MS I hope that someone would recommend me to read it and I am sure that many patients will find it enormously encouraging'. British Medical Journal

'Hope springs eternal from every page'. Nursing Times

It is rare to find positive non-scare mongering advice on MS. This is full of practical information that you can use to manage your MS immediately. Very grateful for Judy's book - thank you.

Often, Multiple Sclerosis is seen as a life sentence, an inevitable loss of mobility, independence, and overall quality of life. However, this may not necessarily be the reality for all people. Some individuals have bouts with remissions that allow them to live fairly normally. Others are able to control and/or reduce symptoms through diet, exercise, medications, or alternative therapy.

Managing Multiple Sclerosis Naturally is a must have resource for those with Multiple Sclerosis. This is the book that should be given to people when they receive their diagnosis. In fact, anyone who thinks they might have MS should probably pick up a copy.

Multiple Sclerosis has some solid sections explaining MS: what we know, what we don't know, how MS manifests, and what to expect. Then, the author looks at a variety of different theories and treatment options including both contemporary and alternative choices. There is quite a bit of information about nutrition and exercise- things that MS sufferers can actively do, even when their symptoms are intense.

Judy's previous edition was instrumental in showing me a better and more successful way to manage the symptoms of multiple sclerosis, by bringing together in one book all the best information available at the time. This new edition has been significantly updated and it's just great to be able to dip into and find the stuff that you are looking for. I find Judy's writing really easy to follow, she explains things really clearly and discusses the science in a way that I can understand. This is one book that I think is a must for anyone who has MS or for anyone who supports someone with MS.
