Book Description

1 July 2009
The range of models described, 10 in total, includes John Adair's action centred leadership model, Bruce Tuckman's team development and behaviour model, Eric Bern's parent-adult-child theory of transactional analysis and John Boyd's OODA decision-making model. There are models too covering delegation, motivation and communications. For each model described, author Mike Clayton outlines the problem that the model addresses, explains how it works (first an overview followed by a more detailed explanation) and uses examples to demonstrate how it works in practice. A diagrammatic view of each model and references to related models add to the practical approach.

3.0 out of 5 stars Book Review 17 Mar 2011
By Mr. S. C. Warburton VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This wee book covers several management models. It left me wanting to know about others that I have missed. It therefore spurred me onto getting a more comprehensive management text. The Management Models Book is good, but I think on reflection, that I should have routed my cash into a more comprehensive management book in the first place

5.0 out of 5 stars Theory - put into practice 30 Jan 2011
Format:Paperback
I've often thought that an easy way to make my million is to think of 3 words and put them in concentric circles, 4 words and put them in a matrix, or 5 rhyming words and call them a 'life-cycle'! But this book puts management models into context and shows how they can relate to managing people and difficult decisions in your everyday working life. Even though some of these models are 'old favourites' Mike Clayton gives a different, more thought-provoking interpretation on them and summarises without the waffle!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gets to the point - quickly! 23 Dec 2009
Format:Paperback
Quick guide to core management models and their potential application. Especially like the way the author places them in their original context, provides opinion and additional links should you want to do more reading.
Have used the pocketbook to refresh and update my learning, used them as part of a taught programme and sent them to colleagues who want a gentle introduction.
