Product Description

Keanu Reeves directs and stars alongside Chinese martial artist Tiger Chen in this action-packed thriller following the experience of a highly-skilled fighter entering the brutal world of underground combat. Tiger Chen (Chen) is a conflicted student of tai chi master Yang (Hai Yu) at a temple which has recently been deemed structurally unsafe. Tiger's talents are unparalleled, yet his lack of control over his emotions means that he is in danger of bringing dishonour to his teacher. Having captured the attention of Donaka Mark (Reeves), the wealthy owner of a private security firm, Tiger is invited to Hong Kong where he expects to be offered a job at the company. However, Tiger soon realises that Donaka has other plans in store for him and he is reluctantly thrown into the world of underground fight clubs where his abilities prove more than capable of securing him wealth and fame. But will this newly-gained success mean Tiger will become a shadow of his former self?

I am pretty easy when it comes to movies give me well choreographed, and plentiful fight scenes and I am happy. So Yuen Wo-ping's name always gives me confidence that I will enjoy the movie. This is a great movie for martial arts fans. Also I think a decent directing début for Keanu Reeves. Not amazing but good I think.

Reeves cast himself as the main villain as well. A millionaire business man who runs an illegal martial arts fight club. While giving the police the run-around. His latest find is a young Tai Chi petitioner from who he senses a dark side he wants to bring out. Chen Lin-Hu does an excellent job of the Tai Chi fighter. The only disappointing part is there is not fight between him and Iko Uwaus who does make a cameo. Oh well you can't have everything.

A very good movie. I think with a couple of small touches it could be very great. Possible giving Iko a bigger role? Hint. If you like martial arts movies with good fight scenes and a decent plot as well. You will enjoy this.

I thought this was a very entertaining movie though a little rushed in places, the bad guy wasn't very well explored & was very 1 dimensional but the fight scenes are inventive & the stunt work well done. It does show a different style of Martial Arts than permeates most of the fighting movies I've seen & I may have rated it higher than I would down to that.

Man of Tai Chi represents an agreeably old-fashioned picture for martial arts fans -- and a solid debut for first-time director Keanu Reeves.Don't get too hopeful for greatness, but the damned thing works. For the most part, the fight scenes are grounded in physical potential, but there are shots and edits that have simple physical magic to them. Reeves distinguishes himself behind the camera. The fight scenes are exciting and plentiful, acting as a showcase for both Hu Chen's formidable talents and Yuen Wo-ping's inventive choreography.

This was an unknown movie for me done with Keanu Reeves and it was totally enjoyable. This movie provided lots of action and stunts that would leave many in the dust. The portrayal of the corruption of innocence by Reeves's character is sublime and innovation, without the usual hard sell which makes this movie a hidden gem well worth watching.

Excellent, lots of fighting scenes, Tiger Hu Chen is a brilliant fighter. Lost one star because the movie climax final fight, Tiger V Keanu, was not credible. It is too obvious that Tiger is a skilled fighter and that Keanu could never floor Tiger as often as he did in that final fight. Love them both, though!

good while in the very good fight scenes but goes through the motions when out of them and the end felt a tad rushed lacking alittle of the energy and danger of the fights before it, still worth the watch and Keanu Reeves was better as a bad guy then i thought he would be.

Konnichiwa - Not a bad film, certainly entertaining. Good action - NO WIRES! although a little cheesey in the opponents. Could have showed a little more of the background behind the Tai Chi Chaun. Stil,l would recommend. sayonara

For me it lost two stars as the story was weak and didn't develop much at all. Keanu Reeves was awful as the main villain we all know Reeves is not the greatest actor but in this he over acts and under acts. With his random bursts of screaming and his stupid deep voice to try and pull of a menacing villain just didn't work. Tho what I will give him is his debut on directing tho you could pick out a few faults but overall for a first directional movie he really pulled it off with the choreography, fight scenes were all nicely executed. Him being on the matrix you can tell was heavily influenced in this movie. For me I would have liked to have had the story stronger as in Reeves character wanted to show a humble man to become a killer tho I felt the process of the story was too quick for to even realise that was Reeves intent.
