This was the only blockbuster of 2013 that's was truly great and I could get into. As the film stands I think its a great reboot and a heck of a lot better than superman returns. the story is good and it's a very well realised and engaging origin of superman and is told with that gritty realism of Christopher Nolan's dark knight film's. Also I have to say the pace is good and fast for a two hour film its fly's by.
The action and special effects are very good especially the opening on krypton and the epic last sort of half in the film where some truly awesome fights and destruction happens. finally as for the acting it's decent I thought henry cavil could have been a little bit more enthusiastic but Russell Crowe and Michael Shannon where great. oh and the music is great and very uplifting.

one of the best superhero film's and my top film of 2013 for sure.

I have mixed feelings for Man of Steel, on one hand it’s a total action fest and the other a convoluted mess of a story. Let’s start with the very different look of Krypton, impressive at first but then when you start seeing the oversized spaceships and flying dragons you could be forgiven for thinking you’re watching a combination of Star Wars with Avatar thrown in for good measure. The flashback scenes were a real messy way of trying to tell a simple story as Superman, we didn’t need a complex story, this film would have been better without the flashbacks. As for those complaining about too much action, well I actually enjoyed the action sequences more so than the story itself.

However there is still something missing when it comes to the action scenes, for instance there is no wow factor, it’s just complete carnage, buildings fall debris mounts up, superhero and villain smash through buildings, repeat. Now, I am no screenwriter but imagine if we had a scene where the daily planet building is about to fall, Superman flies up and pushes the building back into place and then uses his heat vision to re-seal the building, a scene like this would have put a big smile on my face as this is the kind of heroism you like to see when you watch a Superman movie, and with today’s technology this should be more than simple to execute.

I mentioned earlier about the flashbacks, the film would have been far better if they kept it as a three act play, the first part involves Krypton, then we get a bit more character development with young Kal-El growing up in Smallville with the third act being all about Superman in Metropolis.

THE FILM -WELL AND TRULY LAUNCHES 'SUPERMAN' INTO THE
TWENTY FIRST CENTURY. (Another re-start)
Many will remember the comic series of yesteryear with it's weekly tales of
the indestructible super-hero inspiring the imagination of it's young readers.
Many versions both via our TV sets and the big screen have been played down
the years including the much loved 'Christopher Reeve. 4-movie series, his
career of course was cut short after a horse-riding accident. (sadly he's
since passed on)
In '2006' 'SUPERMAN RETURNS' was released starring 'Brandon Routh' in the role.
sadly the film failed in the Box-Office, so wasn't continued, seven years on,
we start over...with this 'stunning' special-effect bonanza of viewing pleasure.
On the doomed planet of 'Krypton' 'Russell Crowe' plays 'Jor-El' father of 'Kal-El'
on Earth 'Kevin Costner' plays 'Johnathan Kent' 'Kai-El (Clark's) adopted father.
'Clark' learns from an early age he has powers that defy the normality of the
children around him here on planet 'Earth'
Now grown up 'Clark' has to blend into the world of seemingly normal expectations,
he has to learn how to control the power he has using it to help mankind.
Reporter 'Lois Lane' has worked out that 'Clark' and the Worlds new hero are one of
the same.
The Earth however will soon need 'Superman' as the exiled 'General Zod' from 'Krypton'
years past threatens earth challenging them to give-up the being mankind in general
know little of....yet.
'Kai-El' will have to respond, 'Genera Zod's' intention is to build 'Krypton' on 'Earth'
The battle to save Earth from those who wish to obliterate mankind....begins.
The film is a C.G.

2)Outstanding Action scenes that truly deliver eye popping epic entertainment.
3)Russell Crowe is perfect casting as Jor-el & the opening 20 minutes which he is mainly featured are truly magnificent.
4)Michael Shannon delivers a great performance as General Zod dictator & warlord is a great advisory for Superman.
5)Superb retelling of the Superman Mythology by writer's Christopher Nolan & David Goyer.

Negative.
Amy Adam's sees totally miscast as Lois Lane bringing no spark to the character.

Extras.
• Strong Characters
• All Out Action
• Krypton Decoded
• New Zealand: Home of Middle Earth
• Superman 75th Anniversary Animated Short

Trivia.
1)Henry Cavill was nearly Superman in 2006's Superman Returns until director Bryan Singer prefered Brandon Routh & cast him instead of Cavill, Seven year's later Bryan Singers loss was Zack Snyders gain as Man of Steel is a far superior Superman movie than Superman Returns & Cavill a far better actor & Superman than Brandon Routh was.
2)David Goyer wrote the 3 Blade movie's & co-wrote the Dark Knight trilogy.
3)Dennis Quaid & Kurt Russell were in the running to play Jonathan Kent.
4)Keep a eye out for the Luthorcorp & Wayne enterprises logos on a truck & satellite in the final fight between Superman & General Zod.
5)Many of the flight sequences later added a CGI cape.
6)Henry Cavill got down to the final two in the casting of James Bond in 2006 but lost out to actor Daniel Craig.
