Product Description

Product Description

Man Mk 1 has been around a very long time, the basic model having remained unchanged for a lot longer that the original Model T Ford. Engine, chassis and bodywork spec are not a great deal different from that seen in the super cool showrooms of the last Ice Age. With a little care, this high performance machine will last a long lifetime with minimal need for maintenance or spare parts. However, like any piece of high technology, a basic understanding of what goes on beneath the bonnet will greatly aid longevity. Men tend to view their bodies in a mechanistic way, which is fine, as long as the working tolerances of their particular model are not exceeded and regular maintenance takes place. Designed to help men look after themselves, this text takes a general look at men's health.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best men's health book ever, 15 Nov 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Man: 120,000BC to Present Day: All Models, Shapes, Sizes and Colours - The Practical Step-by-Step Guide to Men's Health (Haynes Owners Workshop Manual) (Hardcover)
I bought this book for my dad's birthday as he's mad about cars. He thought it was fantastic - really kept him entertained as he learnt more about how to look after his body (like he looks after his car!).

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally Unique, 14 Nov 2002
This review is from: Man: 120,000BC to Present Day: All Models, Shapes, Sizes and Colours - The Practical Step-by-Step Guide to Men's Health (Haynes Owners Workshop Manual) (Hardcover)
This is a fantastic idea - marrying the two greatest loves in a man's life - his health and his car.

Seriously, this book is well written, informative, and may even save your (or a loved one's) life. A great Christmas present its sure to be a big seller.

2.0 out of 5 stars Didn't live up to my expectations, 23 Jun 2008

I love the idea of this book and think it is a concept well worth continued development. I do how ever wonder who the market are which the book is targeting. Other reveiws said it was good for themselves or their Dads.

For young men, I am not so sure. The cartoons are not that engaging the diagrams are not clear, (unless one knows what is being refered to), there are pictures of women in it when refering to issues that may affect either gender, (strange for a book about men), and there appears to be a prudishness about showing anything "rude".

I confess that I did get the book to work with young people and I feel that it will not be engaguing enough for this age group (16-25) as once opened it still looks very much like a bland health encyclopaedia.

The information is great, but a bit more colour on the page would go a long way.
