This was the first of 3 EPs with 5 almost poppy catchy numbers present here but also veering on the dark side with some incredible lyrics throughout. Kicking off with 'Disco Biscuit love' a brilliant song about a certain Trudy who over-doses in a disco, set to a great combination of guitar keyboards & drums. 'Be A Star' where Hayley reminds a bit like The Killers singer and is another fabulous number. If that wasn't enough then comes one of the star tracks of this band 'Electric Lover' "my English lover makes me feel colder" "my Iraqi lover makes me feel covered". Really brilliant. Sublime. The Jezabels have just raised the post of popular music. 'Old Little Girls' with more genius at work. Each song seems to impossibly transcend the heights of the previous. 5th 'Unmarked Helicopters' is just another staggering work "but you are the princess in the well & the town drinks from your eyes".

Aussie band providing superb alt-rock or is it post-punk punk with prog overtones? hmmmmm damned labelling theories, just give them a try and you'll probably end up buying the rest!

I've recently become a fan of the jezabels, i first saw the video for "mace spray" on tv here in Australia and purchased the "dark storm" EP almost straight away. This EP is in a similar vein and has no dud songs at all. Every song on this cd is great and i recommend it to everyone who loves music. I am going to buy every other Jezebals cd they have put out because i love them so much. My new favourite band!

I have listened to the Jezabels going on a couple of years now, and i love how they are able to switch styles from this short feature all they way to the most recent prisoner album. Good times good music!
