Today, when you hear the name Michael Jackson it's all too often associated with weirdness - overdone plastic surgery, pet chimps, dangling babies, extravagant spending sprees, and lurid accusations. But that wasn't always the case. Two decades ago this son of a steelworker was unquestionably the biggest pop star of his time. He possessed an amazing ability to mesmerize crowds, was beloved my millions of adoring fans, and at the height of his career, he was as big as the Beatles. This original movie tracks Jackson's complicated rise to superstardom - where he came from, how it shaped him, the impact he made on pop culture, and most importantly, who the Man In The Mirror really is.

Truly BAD! 28 Mar 2009
By AV1 TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:DVD
If you buy this expecting to see a biopic similar to Ray or walk the line then think again. This TV movie due to the lack of licensing doesn't feature one Michael Jackson song instead it has muted musical performances from an impersonator. The acting is awful. The editing is terrible, it looks as though it has been filmed with a camcorder at times. The production is a complete mess.

The same Actor plays Michael from the late 70's to 2003 and to compensate the changes that we've seen Michael go through in that time they simply cover the guy in white powder or something! You can see his actual skin tone underneath.

The cliched dialogue is almost laugh out loud funny. When Michael meets Martin Bashir for the first time he say's "if I can't trust you who can I trust" and when talking about his 2001 concert at Madison square garden saying that tomorrows headlines will be a day to remember (the night before 9/11). Come on!!!

Then there's the incredibly cheesy ending in which Michael goes on trial and the film ends there with a group of people looking solemnly at the camera one by one. It's clear that the film was rushed out by amateur producers to coincide with the trial, not even bothering to see the outcome of it.

If you want a better film about Michael Jackson check out the Jacksons: An American Dream, at least that actually features many Jackson 5 and MJ songs and isn't as poorly put together as this rubbish. Unfortunately its only available from the US so you'll need a multi region player. Michael would never endorse this rubbish. Avoid it!!!

This is an overview of his life so far (up to the point in time this was made). A guy who sort of resembles Michael gives a convincing performance. I got this to find out more about his life cause I was born in 1981 and didn't know as much about him as I wanted to. This satisfied me. It is not a hollywood movie, so don't expect the same as you'd get there. But it is good. If all the big stories about him passed you by and you want to know, get this.

A good feature with good actors, very close to MJ live. But if you expect a documetary you will be disappointed...

Wow
This film is almost as amazing as Michael's incredible fading skin.

Macauley Culkin has also vanished out of history, which is a bit odd but there you are. Read more

Man In The Mirror - The Michael Jackson Story. 2004.
This biopic is so bad it's embarrasing.

Firstly it wasn't licensed or approved by Jackson or his estate, and therefore features NONE of Jackson's songs. Read more
