These films are spin-offs of the popular television series produced in the sixties to cash in on the worldwide phenomenum U.N.C.L.E. became. In many ways these films surpass the episodes they are taken from. There are subtle plot changes, different or expanded characters, and the audience are treated as adults with american television restrictions lifted. There are scenes of very brief nudity and implied sexuality which are missing from the television episodes. These films are almost a potted history of U.N.C.L.E. from it"s serious cold war beginnings to it"s campy decline, then all too sudden ending after trying to return to it"s serious roots. The picture quality and sound are better than VHS,but only adequate for a modern dvd release.A lot of serious remastering needs to be done. When it is,this will be an exceptional set of discs. These films serve to remind us of how good U.N.C.L.E. actually was and examples of how a well thought out and mature approach can actually lead to a spin-off surpassing the series it came from. These films are a nostalgic reminder of a great series, yet very different to what we orginally watched on television.
