Book Description

1 April 2004
When twins Amanda and Marian Laton lose their father unexpectedly, they are stunned to discover that in his will he has put them in the charge of their Aunt, who lives on a sprawling Texas farm. Horrified to be leaving the town where they have spent their lives so far, the twins arrive at their Aunt Red’s ranchhouse, only too aware that she now has to approve any suitor of theirs who may appear – or they lose their inheritance. Amanda, with her glorious golden ringlets, had always been her father’s favourite, and her scheming ways ensure that Marian never has the attention of any of the boys who call at their house. But they soon both meet Chad Kincaid, handsome cowboy son of the next-door ranch owner – and both girls want him. After an intoxicating series of twists and turns the course of true love ends in one of the Laton twins winning the heart of Chad…the heart of a man she can call her own.

1.0 out of 5 stars Skip this one! 5 Feb 2004

A real disappointment. I'm a great fan of this author and truly can not believe she wrote this. I don't need books to be true to life but this was so unbelieveable it made me cringe. Don't waste your time - the first quater of the book nothing happens anyway and is just narrative. If you do read the book bare in mind this is not a true reflection on the authors usual works and standard.

3.0 out of 5 stars An improvement 30 Dec 2003

Format:Paperback
I've always been a great fan of Johanna's books, but after her last few disappointing novels, I was beginning to think that she had lost her talent.

Fortunately, it looks to be that she's on her way back. Although not up to the great standard of her earlier works (ie Savage Thunder, Man of my Dreams and the Malory novels), this book is a great improvement over her more recent novels.

A bit slow to start (too much narration), but got better once the girls met Chad. The evolving relationship between Chad & Marian, a train robbery and kidnapping, plus a few unexpected twists and turns kept those pages turning.

Fingers crossed, Johanna's new Malory novel due out later this year, is back to the excellent standard of her earlier novels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Book 12 April 2006
Format:Paperback
When I first saw this book I thought that it sounded ok and that it would pass time reading it but it was one of the best books I've ever read. If you're looking for a romance novel then definatly purchase and read it, I couldn't put the book down. I am very selective in the books I choose to read and this one may have been my best decisoin yet.
