The Man from Atlantis was quite a fascinating TV movie for its time, and though there are one or two items or moments that look dated or seem silly, for the most part, it holds well and is still extremely entertaining even now. The quality was amazing then and it shows. Logically there will always be things that are specific to the era, but it doesn't detract or make it look strange in any way for new generations. The quality of the print is relatively decent, but the DVD itself is another story.
First of all, the DVD includes the original TV movie and nothing else, and when I say nothing else, not even a menu. It says Warner Archive Collection and they really mean archive: just the copy itself. Add to this the fact that you have to hit the next button at the end of chapter one to continue watching the movie. The DVD says after every chapter, but it seemed to demand it only after the first one on my DVD player. This is a very badly put together DVD. Warner could and should have done this much better. Hell, my 8 year old niece could and does do it better. Thankfully though, it doesn't detract from the fabulous movie within, still worth watching after all this time.
If only Warner would release the full show and a better DVD. One can wish.
