Dog lovers beware! From the cover the DVD "Man About Dog" looks like the type of film for a good laugh and a fun night in. A comedy set in West Belfast and the Republic of Ireland, at first glance it seems like something Roddy Doyle might have written. But greyhound lovers beware, it is not and features animal cruelty! It also is a thinly disguised promo for hare coursing, an activity banned both in the UK and Northern Ireland. In one scene, one of the so called heroes of the film is given the task of disposing of a dog that has been passed on to them as a racer but is either too old or too slow. He walks the dog away into the trees armed only with a shovel, presumably to bludgeon the dog to death and then bury the poor animal. The dog is never seen again in the film. In another scene another greyhound falls out of the back of the van onto the road, a scene that could not have been filmed without causing distress to the dog. If you care about dogs avoid this film like the plague and tell your friends too.
