Good laugh 18 Aug 2009
Format:DVD
I thought this film was very good. I got a laugh. If you you know any irish slang you will love this. The only problem i have with it, is the leading actor is either from a posh backround, or he is not from Northern Ireland and is trying to put on a Belfast accent. I have no problem with someone doing accents if they are good at it, He was wick. Other than that the film is a feel good movie and has loads of laughs.

Dog lovers beware! From the cover the DVD "Man About Dog" looks like the type of film for a good laugh and a fun night in. A comedy set in West Belfast and the Republic of Ireland, at first glance it seems like something Roddy Doyle might have written. But greyhound lovers beware, it is not and features animal cruelty! It also is a thinly disguised promo for hare coursing, an activity banned both in the UK and Northern Ireland. In one scene, one of the so called heroes of the film is given the task of disposing of a dog that has been passed on to them as a racer but is either too old or too slow. He walks the dog away into the trees armed only with a shovel, presumably to bludgeon the dog to death and then bury the poor animal. The dog is never seen again in the film. In another scene another greyhound falls out of the back of the van onto the road, a scene that could not have been filmed without causing distress to the dog. If you care about dogs avoid this film like the plague and tell your friends too.

Delivery and packaging of DVD was spot on. No complaints there. Bought after reading reviews. Looks like film jumped on the bandwagon of earlier real funny irish films. Read more

Average movie
The film definitely has some amusing moments, but overall does not raise any real 'belly laughs'. Lacks the charm and wit to match In Bruges, or The Guard if you want to experience... Read more
