Product Description

Book Description

Over 60 of the most scandalous stories from Hollywood. Murders, suicides, unexplained deaths, scandalous romances, illegitimate children, cover-ups, and more, from the 1920s to Hollywood's Golden Age in the 1960s and right up to the present day.

From the Back Cover

All the dirt on Tinseltown - 100 years of sex, suicide, sudden death, robbery, murder and mayhem

From the 1920s to Hollywood's Golden Age in the 1960s and right up to the present day, get the low-down on La-La Land, behind the scenes. Times may change, but people, it seems, don't.

Michelle Morgan draws on fresh archival material to uncover more than 60 Hollywood scandals in intimate detail. Each chapter is a story in itself, a fascinating glimpse into the more sordid side of storied showbiz. The scandals are by turns revealing, tragic, outrageous and even, at times, entertaining, such as when Zsa Zsa Gabor clobbered a policeman.

They include the tragic death of Whitney Houston; the fatal stabbing of Lana Turner's boyfriend; the disappearance of Walter Collins, whose abduction was revisited in the movie Changeling; the sad story of Patricia Douglas, raped at a party for MGM executives, then humiliated in court; the death of starlet Virginia Rappe which resulted in the downfall of comedian Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle; the Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes split, and many more.

This is good for anyone who likes to read about Hollywood, but it is good to know before you buy it that the majority are very old scandals, from the start of the 1900s- don't buy expecting it to be about modern scandals. Plus, I feel like the selection of stories is a little odd- some huge stories are left out, while lesser ones are included. That being said, it is an interesting read.

This is a book that you can pick up, read a chapter or two and return when it suits. It is well researched and well written and gives a fascinating insight how some individuals blessed with fame can equally be damaged, or worse, by it. An easy four stars.

I really enjoyed this book. It's a great read with some interesting facts about some very famous scandals. It was almost a book of two halves and while I knew who I was reading about in the modern day half, I had no idea in the older part. I had to look up on the web! It would be nice to have photos with this book!

This book is full of interesting facts and shocking revelations about all the actors and actresses we have loved over the decades.

I especially loved all the chapters about early Hollywood, even though I had to Google who most of them were :p

I couldn't put this book down :)

This is a very informative book giving plenty of depth to many scandals over a very long period.
While it covers most of the more publicised events from the past it gives a good insight into the more obscure incidents too.
A good read, would recommend it to all movie buffs.

When you read this it makes me,glad I haven't a fortune or famous.
If you like reading about, the Hollywood "set" this is for you.
Older stars as well as new ones,I wonder how they are even
able to stand up,never mind function and learn lines?

Interesting if you are curious about the weird world of Hollywood and it's inhabitants. Appeared to be quite well researched.

I really enjoyed this book, more interesting than a lot of them are, because the writing style is not too long drawn out
