Book Description

When fourteen year old Helen Stroud finds herself starting yet another new school, miles away from her friends, she's not happy. This time she won't even get to see her old friends at weekends, let alone after school. Somehow her mum has got a job as music teacher at an elite girls' boarding school, St. Mallory's, and Helen is to be one of the boarders.

From "scuzzy comprehensive" to a world of Latin, lacrosse and ladylike pursuits, Helen blogs about her experiences, determined to reveal the truth about girls' boarding schools to an unsuspecting world. Meanwhile her appointed "buddy" Abby has similar ideas. The two girls completely fail to hit it off, and it looks like lacrosse sticks at dawn.

But an unexpected mystery involving a missing teacher, a piece of music written by a composer after he died, and a boy from a neighbouring school who isn't at all what he seems, brings the girls together.

With the aid of another new girl, Confucius-spouting Xuan, and the irrepressible Don Pedro, Helen and Abby set out to show Miss Marple and Sherlock Holmes how real detectives work. With hilarious results!

Jointly written by the award-winning, best-selling Saffina Desforges partnership and two schoolgirl debut novelists (just 16 and 17 at time of publication), St. Mallory's Forever! is the first of the St. Mallory's comedy-mystery series that aims to prove one thing:

That everything you thought you knew about English girls' boarding schools is wrong.

Yes, even that bit!

St. Mallory's Forever!

Anca's Story

Three young children smuggle themselves into Auschwitz in search for their parents.

If you're looking for werewolves, vampires and faeries and paranormal fantasy, try somewhere else. The only wolf in this story is very real, and the only connection with vampires is the distant Transylvanian mountains in Romania, where this story begins.

If you're looking for light-reading where they all live happily ever after then again, try somewhere else.

If you want serious, no-holds-barred literary fiction set against the background of real historic events then this is for you.

Saffina Desforges made her name writing hard-hitting crime fiction.

This book is about that most horrific crime of all: genocide.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Jolly Good Read 2 Feb. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I love a girl's school story and this brings them up to date. I love the idea of using blogs as a way of telling a story from the characters different perspectives. Use of modern technology doesn't detract from from an old style type of story. Wonderful humour and a real mystery to solve has had me staying up late to find out the conclusion. I want to go to st. Mallory but as it is fictional I'm just going to hope this is the start of a series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book ever 24 Aug. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved this book.
It was a modern version of Mallory Towers and St.Clare's (which are also very good). The story is told in different blogs, by different people.

It has a bit mystery in it but is also fun to read. Because it is set in the 21st century, iPads and phones often get mentioned.

I would recommend this book to anyone my age (12) and above who likes reading boarding school books but also if you like mystery/detective books.
This is definitely one of the best book I have EVER read.

4.0 out of 5 stars School stories forever! 30 May 2013
By Liane
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I love school stories and really enjoyed this one. There are a fair number of typing errors though which isn't really cricket... Oh and a not to the authors (not that I think they'll see this) it's Elinor Brent-Dyer not Eleanor...sounds minor but really annoying... I really liked the characters and storyline though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant clever modern boarding school story 26 Oct. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have always loved all the various school stories (even though I am not very young any more) but have always thought they would be very different in modern times with all the e-equipment we have now.
Not so, this was a perfect example of how to use all mobiles and laptops, etc., in a modern school, and with a clever mystery twist to it.
Very cleverly written in the form of blogs.
I loved it.
I cannot recommend this book too highly - and I very very much hope that these 4 authors will collaborate again to write another one or six or ten.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nostalgia brought up to date! 5 July 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As a teenager I adored school stories, and I haven't been above rereading some of my favourites over the years. It was a delight to plunge back into the boarding school atmosphere, with the typical group of friends, funny episodes, and underlying plot. The interesting thing about this book is that it has brought boarding school life up to date without spoiling it. The blogs and other paraphernalia of 21st century life are excellently used to create an original and highly enjoyable story with lots of humour and sparkle as well as moments of great excitement. Helen is a really likeable character, as is her counterpart Abby, and the other friends she makes. Roll on the next instalment of St Mallory's!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, fast and great characters 29 Jan. 2013
By Dragon
Format:Kindle Edition
I really enjoyed this light, humorous tale. The three main characters were very likeable and having the 3 blogging their own versions of happenings worked so very well and was a fresh and new idea. The story was fast moving and gave a fun insight into life at a boarding school. I will definitely recommend it to my teenagers friends. Well done to two new young authors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Recommended read! 4 May 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This was a well written book told from the point of view of three girls at a boarding school. What is particularly interesting is that it is told via blog entries that the girls write, which is an idea that works well. The girls themselves sound convincing - not least because two of the writers are teenage girls themselves, one of whom has been to boarding school. And, in addition to all of this, there is a good story at work, regarding a missing teacher, and an obscure piece of music. Overall, am enjoyable read, and what looks like a promising start to a new series...
