I've planned a couple of holidays around Charles Davis' books in the past and they were both great successes, but I don't normally buy 'updated' versions of books I've already got because they often seem to just incorporate a few readers' letters and no new research. So I was a bit wary when someone gave me this, the 3rd Edition of a book I'd used previously. Turns out, though, that this is a genuine update. It's got eight new walks (did four on our last trip to Mallorca, all excellent) and several that have been substantially changed (I can recommend the new approach to Teix from Valldemossa). It's certainly worth investing in a new copy. The descriptions are detailed and accurate, and there are plenty of amusing and informative asides. A must have for any walker visiting Mallorca. Don't go to Mallorca without this book,

We wanted to do more than sit on beaches. With this excellent, inspiring book we discovered the real Mallorca. The walk descriptions are clear, and the mapping first class. You can easily see how long difficult each route is before you start. Plenty of background info. including bars and restaurants. We have just got into GPS which made the book even more useful for us with its waypoints to keep you on track.We would recommend this book to all walkers - even if you have used the (late) June Parker walking books for the island, we think you will find this an excellent replacement. We would also recommend the companion Mallorca North & Mountains Tour & Trail Super-Durable Map.

This book is easy to use with its lay flat spiral binding. The book contains 44 routes in the North & Mountains regions of Mallorca.If you know the island and have walked there before, you will find some old favourites. But there are several routes in it that were new to me although I have been going there for years. I like the style of writing and also the helpful details, such as plenty of walk timings along the route, ascents & descents, distance covered, compass direction, recommended refreshment places on or near the route, etc. Particularly good are the map sections, as they are really clear yet with plenty of detail. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to walk in Mallorca.

This is a well researched and well written walking guide. It includes map extracts from the companion map (which is also highly recommended). These are sufficient to follow the route but I always like to have something to give a broader perspective as well and the associated map did that well. The routes we used were interesting, pretty easy to follow and accurate.
I wish we had had more time to try more of the walks.
