Review

'Briggs's information is up to date and reliable, and he comes across as an intelligent, courteous traveller who clearly enjoys the country.' Times Literary Supplement

Product Description

There's more to Malawi than its lake. This fifth edition of the Bradt guide explores the country's rolling plateaux and massifs and its five national parks and four game reserves. Adventurers, meanwhile, can discover how to kayak off Cape Maclear, hike up Mount Mulanje or cross the wildlife-rich Nyika Plateau on horseback. The book covers the country's dynamic music scene and uncovers little-visited gems such as Dedza and Elephant Marsh. And if visitors must find a luxury lodge on Lake Malawi's palm-fringed shore on whose deck to sip their sundowners – well, this book tells them how to pull that off, too. An invaluable guide for visitors to this most explorable, affordable and tranquil of African countries, whose low-key charm most visitors find thoroughly addictive, Bradt’s Malawi provides readers with advice on planning their itinerary, wildlife and bird species identification, conservation areas, national parks and a detailed history of the country.

Best Malawi Guide 21 Dec 2010
Format:Paperback
Bought this before spending 3 months in Malawi. Key points: comprehensive, up-to-date, authoritative. When I showed it to people I met there, they all said it was miles better than the books they'd got (including the previous edition of Bradt), and some of them went straight on to Amazon to buy their own copy. Highly recommended.

Visit malawi 2 Sep 2008
Format:Paperback
Good guide book with added bonus of helping the traveller escape the LP hordes. Having lived in Malawi I found it better than most other guide books covering most places I visited. All in all perfect for exploring a fabulous country and meeting it's friendly people.

Very useful book, all the info I needed for my trip was included. Good size book as well so easy to carry. Excellent service, book arrived very promptly. Only critisism is that the map for Blantyre was not very accurate, and didnt have a scale to give an idea on distances. I understand there is to be a new version published in the next 2 months, which hopefully will be even better. Overall a really excellent buy.
