I'm really impressed with this chainsaw. It has a very efficient motor which makes it very powerful. I've owned it for about 2 years now and its been very reliable. It has a very good quality cable which is also very long. I've cut some very large diameter wood with it and it slices through it. It uses quite a bit of oil but I'd rather have everything well lubricated so I don't consider this to be a problem. Overall, an excellent investment.

I have had petrol chainsaws for many years (STIHL) and have always resisted the electric machine thinking (incorrectly) that they would never have the power to get the job done. I bought a Black & Decker and thought my fears were realised, that saw was a pile of rubbish. But then I had the chance to use this Makita saw that a friend was using to log some big trees in his garden. At first I scoffed at him for even attempting the job with this saw but I was the one left with the egg on my face. This saw felled and logged four trees (with a average trunk diameter of 13 inches) in one day with the greatest of ease. Just as easily as my STIHL saw. And what was amazing was the strain free operation. This saw is lighter, more maneuverable, quieter and much safer than my petrol saws. The only difference is the portability, the STIHL can go anywhere, whereas you are limited to the length of your extension.
My advice - if you are not used to using chainsaws and want a reliable, safe and quiet chainsaw do not hesitate just buy this saw you will not be disappointed.

This is my first chainsaw bought to cut logs for the fire. I found the instructions comprehensive and it was easy to put together and adjust. The build quality looks great and the saw is light to hold. The chain is easy to adjust without tools and the narrow chain cuts logs like a dream with little effort. The safety brake works fine and also just letting go of the on off switch stops the chain really quick. My woodsman mate says it looks good for wood sculpture compared to the professional level Stihl chainsaw he uses. I was given good advice and used safety gear and a saw horse before starting to saw my logs. I found it need a high level of concentration to avoid being distracted so when cutting logs I ask the family not to disturb.

Had a look into chainsaws before I bought this one , much better than the Black and Decker that I had last time , seems well made , though the chain tensioner looks a bit feeble , just me being fussy . Probably the best made for the money , so in all , I am happy.

Bought this to replace an old one that had seen better days although still in working order. Well I used them back to back and what a difference. This Makita is one hell of a tool. Sliced through logs like they were half the size. Very impressed. Chain adjustment is a doddle. Light and easy to handle.

This is a great machine. Excellent build quality & simple to use. Assembly was a breeze (just make sure to put the chain on the right way round). The chain tensioner is incredibly simple but effective. The adjuster is ratcheted & has a very fine adjustment to get the tension just right. This thing cuts through logs like a knife through butter. Don't force it and let the chain do it's thing. I cut through wood the full length of the bar without any trouble & the motor didn't even strain. It is light for its' size and very easy and safe to handle with the rubber grip adding that extra bit of comfort and anti slip protection. No vibration like petrol models just pure clean power. The power cable is extremely short (8 inches) so you will need an extension lead but the cable lock on the end of the lead will ensure that the plug stays connected even when the power cable gets stretched. It does use oil quite quickly but this will without doubt ensure extended chain life. If you can get this for under £125 then it's a bargain & you will NOT be disappointed with this beauty of a tool...Oh, and it's a Makita...need I say more...MAKITA UC4020A Electric Chainsaw 240V

I purchased the saw after my Sthil 170 broke down and was in for repair, I will now get the Makita out before the Sthil every time I am logging in the garden and just use the Sthil away from home. The Makita is very powerful and runs all day long without any problems. No bad points at all.
