Beautifully illustrated and astutely written John Davis, THE MAKING OF WALES takes the reader on an armchair tour of an ancient land. The descriptions of the physical landscape, the political changes, the tearing down and the building up all combine to make a remarkable pilgrimage.
This book has many lessons for current enviornmentalists who moan and groan about the impact human occupation has on the terra ferma. Yes, man's presence does change the land, but too is man changed by the same.
An excellent book for many hours of browsing and visualizing what once may have been against what is.
