Some of the designs in this book use teams of fabrics that have been arranged into lights, darks and mediums, like the two Split Nine-patch quilts (pages 47 and 51), or just lights and darks, like Phyll Howes-Bassett's Corner Log Cabin on page 22. Read the first page

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and enticing 22 Sep 2009
Format:Paperback
For a compulsive fabric-hoarder this book is a got-to-have. With this book you can begin to cut down on the little bits and pieces as well as the odd half metres. Worth its weight in gold to the new patcher and quilter because the tips and hints are so useful. Illustrations are excellent and it has inspired me to design my own stash-busting quilts.

4.0 out of 5 stars enjoyed it, would buy this book again. 14 Dec 2007
Format:Paperback
I give Lynn a postive yes for this book. Easy to follow, good diagrams, clear instructions. As an applique beginner, I liked the applique 'daisy-type' pattern best, though some of the others gave me good ideas,1) flowery applique & 2)simple, but fast & effective triangle scrap, 3)used the colour combination of pink / green/ white pineapple in my own log cabin creation.

A very useful book for a beginner quilter. Most patterns are manageable because istructions are very clear. Lots of lovely ideas that can be adapted to suit your needs. Don't forget that its main purpose is to use up scraps, and it certainly achieves that. Give it a try, as it is very reasonably priced!

Haven't used any of the ideas yet but being Lynne Edwards in theory they are all good. I have tagged at least three of the quilts so I feel the book is good value. Read more
