Despite being an old book first published 1973. Reprinted 1982. This book is the best I have seen for showing how to make frame moulding with a router. Forty nine profiles are described in detail. Frame making is also covered basic, round, oval, odd shapes. Mount cutting glass cutting are described in some detail. Quite a number of useful homemade jigs are described. If you want to make some individual cheap wooden frames this is the book for you.

Classic Craftmanship but displayed in black and white. 1 Jun 2006
By T. Allen Wyatt - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I found the information in this book very helpful, even inspiring. "Making Picture Frames" was a birthday gift a couple of years ago. I find myself referring to it constantly, even today. The topics include making custom wood moldings, wood finishing techniques, and it has about 50 molding profiles for inspiration. His techniques for building up compound frames are interesting and helpful. Perhaps the low point is the chapter on matting. Keep in mind that this book was written way-back-when, and it shows its age. Mr. Banister would have found digital photography very helpful. Not glossy, but very informative. ---An easy read.

A good beginners book for want-to-be wood picture framers. Includes a bonus feature of creating your own designs in the wood frame with the use of a router. Good basic instruction.

Making picture frames in wood allows even a senior citizen, like me, to achieve acceptable results. My daughter loves having her pictures framed by me. Saves her money and she says it becomes a family project. I reccomend this book to any beginner.
