When Jamie's aunt dies and leaves her some money Jamie can finally fulfil a dream - buying her aunt's old country inn. At cooking she's second to none, and she can't wait to get started. But then she runs out of money and there's still work to be done. Enter Valkyrie, a TV journalist who does up houses with cookery tips thrown in, on the brink of a major TV deal. Just one snag: she can't cook. They agree to a deal - Jamie will teach Val to cook in return for the makeover of the inn. They grow increasingly close, but Val is leaving at the end of the year.
