ONE OF COMEDY'S HEAVYWEIGHTS,
By
This review is from: Making Lite of Myself [Us Import] (Audio CD)
John Pinette is first and foremost an American stand-up comedian who also does some acting, and very creditable impressions of The Chipmunks, Elvis Presley, Gollum from "The Lord Of The Rings", Herve Villechaize (Tattoo from Fantasy Island), as well as an Ewok. He starred in 2005, in the Broadway production of "Hairspray", and continued until May 2006.
His stand-up act concentrates about his passion for food and his hatred of dieting, exercise, or any other pursuit requiring a reduction in daily intake of food and an increase in exertions or self-discipline. And his bodily shape and size and general persona, give credibility to his comedy routines eschewing dieting, exercise and the like. This man is funny. He doesn't tell jokes as such, but very funny stories for example from his skit on England:- "What do they give you for a side dish in England for breakfast? Home Fries? Hash Browns? Fresh Fruit? Nay, nay. They give you beans. Oh, good. Let's start me off in the morning: empty stomach, cup of black coffee. and some beans. Now lets walk me around London for a little while, getting me all churned up. Put me in a taxi and see what happens. I blew the doors off the taxi!" "Making Lite Of Myself" is made up of a number of his well tried and received routines; my favourites being "The Gym", an all-time classic and so true to life "Get Outta The Line", "Camping", and "Extreme Sports". But do not let my particular preferences imply that the other tracks are anything but hilarious.

Another Great Performance,

This review is from: Making Lite of Myself [Us Import] (Audio CD)
For those familiar with John Pinette's work "Making Lite of Myself" is every bit as good as "Show Me the Buffet". I just wish there were more CDs available because they make time fly by in the car. You can listen to these CDs over and over again and they never get any less funny.
John Pinette's humour is often based around his huge appetite for food and his size and the reaction of the people around him which may not sound particularly original but there really isn't anyone else quite like him out there that I know of who is so consistently hilarious all the time.

MISLEADING PRODUCT - Just the Audio from Nay Nay DVD,
By Don Jolio - Published on Amazon.com
I am a big fan of John Pinette, but I am very disappointed in John for releasing this "new album", which is just the audio track from his "I Say Nay Nay" DVD. This is not a new album. There is no new material here. Again, it's just the audio from his most recent DVD. 13 of 14 people found the following review helpful:

Couldn't stop laughing!,
By Marla Schwartz "comedy lover" - Published on Amazon.com

This is one of the first comedy CD's that is funny all the way through the end. John Pinette had me laughing so much,I was crying. People were staring at me on the freeway wondering what was going on. John uses no profanity nor does he tear down anyone but of course himself. I've been passing this CD on to my family and friends and they love it too!

Wonderful Comedian - Nice Guy,
By Douglas K. Jones "jonescincy" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Making Lite of Myself [Us Import] (Audio CD)
I took my wife to see John, he's the only comedian she likes. Not because of his fat jokes but because he's really funny. He rarely uses profanity and his joke construction is on par with the best in the business. If you are a true fan of comedy and comedians you'll be able to tell the difference between a fat comedian who tells jokes and John who works on his material and changes it up until the final construction is perfected then he records that typically. He does change up the jokes at times pulling unnecessary pieces out but the basic concept is still intact. He's no George Carlin when it comes to volume of work and overall joke construction but look at some of George's early work and it's not too different from John's. A lot of repetion but that is what people want to hear from him. When you go to see Carlin you expect a different show with the occassional old routine thrown in for good measure. When you go to see John you go for the same reason you go to a music concert to hear the things you like. I've bought this CD even though I already own DVD's which contain the same material because I love listening to John in the car on trips. It's relaxing and is a great way to start a vacation.
