Product Description

Product Description

There are many different ways in which a product can be manufactured but most designers probably know only a handful of techniques in any detail. Both informative and inspirational, Making It covers a broad range of almost 90 production methods. As well as describing each process, the text offers guidance on its pros and cons and on suitable production volumes, the costs involved, speed of production, relevant materials and typical applications.

About the Author

Chris Lefteri is Senior Lecturer in Product Design at Central Saint Martins College of Design, London. He also runs his own packaging, furniture and product-design business in London. His previous books include five titles in the Materials for Inspirational Design series covering Plastic, Wood, Glass, Metals and Ceramics.

I've recently purchased this book, and am so impressed with the amount of information packed into this attractive handbook. The book made up part of my reading list for the start of my course in September, and I know it's going to be the ultimate resource when it comes to choosing suitable materials and processes in relation to a breif. A must for anyone serious about design, suitable from As level and upwards.

I purchased this book for my A' Level Product Design students as it covers a huge range of manufacturing techniques. It has proved very popular and has improved the quality of their Product Analysis research.
