Product Description

Book Description
BT has published a book to help businesses and public sector bodies across the United Kingdom access up to €50 billion of funding from the European Union, much of which currently lies unclaimed.

'Making It Happen: BT's Guide to Unlocking EU Funding' gives details of the extensive range of funds and resources available and advises potential applicants on how best to navigate through the systems and processes to secure funding.

Billions of euros available to members of the European Union are never claimed, according to the book's authors, yet this could help UK councils, schools, hospitals and businesses. In 2001 only 70 per cent of the Union’s biggest pot of money, the structural funds, was allocated and at least one funding programme only spent 36 per cent of its budget. BT hopes 'Making It Happen' will help the UK organisations maximise their potential in terms of obtaining financial support for projects.

To help readers open the door to EU funding, 'Making It Happen' shares examples of successful applications for money and includes details of how they secured their results. BT has included information about how it has already worked in partnership with the public sector to secure a total of nearly €30 million of EU funding. This includes: €50,000 for NESKEY (New Partnerships for Sustainable Development in the Knowledge Economy) which aims to create a better understanding of how the information and communication technology (ICT) sector can contribute to sustainable development; over €15 million for Opportunity Wales which promotes e-commerce to small businesses; and €3 million for research and development projects by BTexact Technologies including TOWER (Theatre of Work Enabling Relationships), which involved BT and a group of international partners. All of the projects also secured funding from other sources in addition to that supplied by the European Union.

'Making it happen,BT’s guide to unlocking EU funding'

Organisations in both the public and private sector can benefit substantially from EU funding. Benefits are not just financial. Funding programme participants also reap rewards in terms of developing partnerships, product or service development and furthering their strategic aims.
However, accessing funds can be complex and time-consuming.
Applicants must fulfil rigorous criteria and show understanding of EU policies and priorities, which are the basis for funding programmes.
This book is designed to address these issues. It gives an overview of the key funding programmes, provides information about application procedures and criteria, and details a host of contacts and links for those seeking further information.
