1.0 out of 5 stars Uninteresting blog 5 Jan 2011
Format:Paperback
This book truly offered nothing much at all. One could argue it lacked motivation, mountaineering interest, a "journey" to discover ones thoughts or a real point of religious snippets at the end of each section.

The only heart-stopping moment of the book was the fear the hot-water may not be working at the shower when the journey had ended (yes that really was the highlight, and that climax ended swiftly with hot-water being delivered in the usual manner of the common shower).

Save your money, if you're religious then read a blog/bible and throw an extra contribution to your local church. If you are thinking of trekking Kili, then Stedman is the answer.. if you enjoy mountain exhilaration then Joe Simpson etc... voyage of discovery, thousands of titles... just not this one.

Added 23-Sep-11:
Having now read Bear Grylls "Facing Up"... as worthy alternate that ticks motivation, mountaineering, religion...

3.0 out of 5 stars Quick read 17 Jan 2008
By M. Debor - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The book provides basic insight and information needed to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. Based on a first hand climbing experience the reader is taken through a day by day experience of the 7 day Lemosho Route (Barafu route for Kibo ascend). The author is a novice climber and describes the challenges most climbers will face in detail. It is an easy and quick read especially if you skip the prayers throughout the chapters. I enjoyed the read but I would not recommend using this book in preparation for your trek however, this book provides enough information for anyone trying to decide whether to do the climb or not.
