This book has a nice collection of designs for various bits of furniture. All with cutting lists and drawings, plus a bit of explanation as to the visual effect of various mouldings and shapes, which is helpful in understanding what goes to make up a particular style.
However, it is assumed that you know how to do intermediate/advanced carpentry and there are no step-by-step instructions; for each set of drawings and measurements it just says 'assemble the back panel and join the sides next' etc.
Once I have learnt a bit more about woodworking I suspect I will find this a very useful source of ideas. For now, I only feel confident tackling about a quarter of the projects.
It is also nice to see a book like this - it doesn't assume you own a huge number of power tools or use any MDF or plywood!

The book doesn't tell you how to make the joints. If you're looking for good information on how to build mission furniture look elsewhere.

this book contains exactly what its title says, but i could've done without this book. i would recommend "Illustrated Cabinet Making" by Bill Hylton and "Practical Design Solutions and Strategies" by The Taunton Press instead.
