My daughter was given this kit for her birthday. It looked like a lovely idea and we both settled down together this morning for what I had hoped would be a good bit of craft where she could have some fun and I could give her any support needed. I should add that she is a very competent 8 year old when it comes to craft activities, so I wasn't expecting to need to give her much help at all, being as the box said recommended for ages 5 and up. Sadly this was not to be the case. I am now feeling hugely frustrated having spent the last hour doing most of the making myself as the instructions were poor and the materials worse. Who makes these kits? Don't they test them first. A real con. Pretty box, cheap materials inside and shoddy instructions. We have ended up with s very pretty dream catcher, but I don't feel that the making process benefitted my daughter in any way. Plus she now has a mother who has been so frustrated by the process that she is nearly spitting fire. What a waste of a Saturday morning. Don't buy it!

So, you get something which you will spend as much as an hour, to be realistic on a leisurely day, making with your child. And then you get to keep the results, which can be rather 'individual'.

The fiddly bit that puts me off just a little bit I can explain as follows: see in the product picture that there's a sort of net in the hoop. That's made out of a single silver string, which you have to wrap around the outside of the hoop with suitable distances between each coil, and then start weaving the net from the first coils inwards. This may take a couple of tries, and results may vary, but you can do it over and again if you wish. Impatient children will have to wait half an hour for the glue to dry where the feathers are stuck on. After that, you hang it up.

It seemed fun for my daughter even though I did most of the work, and she liked choosing which beads to use where, as well as the end result. Had it a year now, and only yesterday she told me she was happy to have it catching her bad dreams.

No one's going to say 'wow' receiving this gift in the same way as they would with a Wii or whatever it is that causes fireworks, and there's not a lot in the box. But I think it's a satisfying enough mini-present that deserves a go if you don't mind some very minor craftwork.

This is not worth the money. It is recommended for ages 5+ but my 5 year old could not do it and it took me nearly 3 hours as it was so fiddly and such poor quality.

Bought to make with my 5 year old daughter. We spent a good hour christmas morning carefully working together to make the dream catcher! Lovely pretty pink ribbon, beads and feathers. Lovely sparkly beads and thread for the web. Instructons not child-friendly - child would need adult help.

I bought this for my 5 year old daughter to do but it was too hard for her to do.

Once I (FINALLY, after several hours) made it up it did indeed look very good.

My six year old daughter got this for Christmas and she loves doing art and craft so it was right up her street. It was however impossible for me, her father or anyone else in the family to complete this. She got bored and we were left fiddling with it until I gave up and threw the thing in the bin. I couldn't get the weave right and the hoop which had to be covered in thread kept coming undone. Sorry but this was a waste of money in my view, far too complex and the instructions weren't great either.

I saw the mixed reviews on Amazon but I decided to buy this as my daughter was desperate for a dream catcher and she loves craft. I often find craft items to be fairly rubbish so I thought it would be okay. My daughter managed the ribbon herself but I found the sparkly thread to be impossible to do like the picture, let alone my daughter. The beads were difficult to thread for me and I had to keep cutting the end off to do it. The feathers kept falling off. Then my daughter tried to adjust the beads and the whole thing has fallen apart. I now have a crying child in bed when this was supposed to help her sleep. It will go in the bin. Waste of money.

I bought this for my 7 year old daughter!
It was quite fiddly and the instructions were hard to follow! I gave it to my daughter to do on her own but she needed the help of her 12 year old sister, who then asked for help from me!
Looked lovely once it was finished! but nothing like on the box!
