This is a really great book that does not overwhelm the reader, but helps them through the process of finding the great story at the heart of their documentary.
Clear. Concise. Pragmatic and useful. It's also well structured and thorough. A great tool. Well done Bod (who I have seen in action and he is a legend!)

5.0 out of 5 stars A gem of a book. 15 Jun 2009
By Lord P
Format:Paperback
I bought two books in preparation for making a documentary. This book is much better for a British reader than the other book, 'Filmmaking for Dummies', which is very American in its approach. 'How to Make your Own Video' is pretty comprehensive for a beginner, whatever kind movie you plan to make, drama or doc. Lots of good hints. A very professional publication and I thoroughly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Guide ! 29 Jun 2008
Format:Paperback
This book shows in a clear, accessible form the best way to make a decent film. Now that it's easy to make films using software such as Ilife etc this book is really useful ! Well worth buying if you want to make films that aren't just full of tacky graphics and pointless zooming.
