Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
My 6 year old son received one of the above bouncy ball making kits for his birthday. He received lots more expensive and fancy presents but this is the one he said he enjoyed the most and took great pride in making and then continued to play with it for a long time.
The kit comes with crystals and moulds which only take less then 10 minutes to make so it's not a long winded project that you have to wait ages for before you can play with it. There were enough crystals to make 3 bouncy balls. The only slight downside is that after a few weeks the balls become quite hard and don't bounce. To revive them you just need to soak them in water for 10 minutes.

Good to complete 1 Jan 2010
Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
We were amazed at how easy this was to complete, you literally add the sand/grain stuff to the mold and sit it in a bowl of water, let it dry and hey presto! Make sure you add enough sand tho or it wont come out as a ball which could be a major problem when trying to bounce. These do loose their bounce but comes with full instructions on how to make them bounce again. Overall a good result and easy for any child to get involved with.

My son loved this. Didn't take long to make and he could use them almost straight away. Great price for what you get. Would make a lovely stocking filler.

Goes hard (and therefore non bouncy) quickly
I bought this for my step-son. He had fun in making up the balls, but they do go hard quite quickly. They can be rejuvinated in water but by then the interest has been lost.
