Book Description

7 July 2011 Deep in the Heart of Texas (Book 2)

THERE'S A NEW BRIDE IN TOWN!

Hope Scroggs is finally ready to get hitched. After years of sowing her wild oats, the former head cheerleader and homecoming queen has returned to Bramble, Texas, to marry her high school flame. But her perfect wedding plans are stomped to smithereens when her adoring cowboy two-steps down the aisle with someone else. Now Hope is stuck with the one man from her past she can't shake: Colt Lomax, an irresistible bad boy whose sultry kisses are hotter than the Panhandle in August . . .

Colt lives for freedom and the open road; he never gets attached, never looks back. Still, he can't forget the night of passion he once shared with Bramble's sweetheart - a night he wouldn't mind repeating. So, he piles on the Texas charm to tease the feisty beauty back into his bed, while she tries her darnedest to resist. But something unexpected is about to tie their fates together . . . and oh, baby, will it ever

5.0 out of 5 stars Can you shake off love like the dust on your boots or does it stay forever attached? 3 Jun 2011
By Mary J. Gramlich - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Hope Scruggs is the sweetheart of Bramble, Texas and Colt Lomax has always been seen as the town's bad boy. They had played those roles growing up and as adults when they both find themselves back in town it is easy to step back into them. Even after years away though the fire between them is still burning and they both have the ability to aggravate the heck out of each other.

Hope is dealing with a failed acting career and coming home to find a twin sister she never knew existed who was marrying the man she thought was hers. Hope used him as a fall back on plan that got away from her and now she is trying to put the puzzle of her life back together with new pieces that don't fit anywhere. Colt is back helping his sister out as he always has and will since childhood. He grew up and despite no one believing him, became a successful custom motorcycle designer.

But the town of Bramble is in trouble and Hope is not only its sweetheart but also its champion so she is going to investigate and figure out how to fix it. Hope is carrying a huge secret of her own around as it appears Hope and Colt had run into each other a few months before. One night of passion has turned into the possibility of a lifelong commitment neither is prepared for and not sure they are able to handle.

There is the possibility of Hope and Colt's story breaking your heart because they are so tough on the outside and tender on the inside. But it doesn't because you see them get past childhood stereotypes and show the strong adults they have become. Regardless of who you were it does not define who you have to be and this book is written to show how destiny can be changed when you own it.

4.0 out of 5 stars What's a Girl to do? 18 Oct 2011
By MoranReviews - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Author Katie Lane's interest in romance began in the backseat of a '65 Mustang. She's now married to the owner of said Mustang and has two grown daughters. She resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She enjoys golf, motorcycles, and traveling in her spare time. Her other title, Going Cowboy Crazy, preceded this book.

The bright lights of California did not shine so brightly on Hope Scroggs, so after sowing her wild oats, she returns to Bramble, Texas, to settle down. Finally ready to get hitched, she seeks out her high school flame, only to find out he married the twin sister she never knew she had. So what is a girl to do? Certainly not hook up with bad boy, Colt Lomax... again! But the attraction that once drew the former cheerleader and the freedom-loving biker together is brewing again, or rather, it never cooled.

Though I enjoyed the first book with the sister, Faith, it was more the town that drew me into that book. In this case, I found myself rooting for the characters and loving the hero. I also found the plot much more plausible and interesting this time around. Though a part of a series, this is a stand alone read. This is an author who knows the south, Texas especially, and puts you right there in the thick of the setting. The town, and slew of secondary characters, returns in this second book for a hilarious and sometimes heartwarming story of love, regret, and coming home again. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Contemporary Cowboy Romance 22 July 2011
By thefictionalbookshelf - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This humorous story would be great as a stand alone story but is a perfect second book in the Deep in the Heart of Texas series. I liked this book just as much as the first book in the series.

Some of the things I loved about Make Mine a Bad Boy

1. The pacing of the story was fast. I read this book in one sitting. (The next day after reading book 1)
2. The emotions of the characters were believable. Not once did I think something was off or they reacted in a way that most people wouldn't.
3. As I read images of the characters and settings flashed before my eyes as if I was looking at photographs. Katie, the author, did an amazing job with the descriptions. Like with book one she didn't describe things in an `info dump'. She was creative by putting descriptive words here or there throughout the whole story.
4. The cast of secondary characters were from book one and I loved them just as much as I loved them in the first book. They added to the story not take away from it.
5. The actual plot and or over all idea of the story was funny and easy to relate to.
6. The main female, Hope, was an amazing woman who felt as if she was my own sister.
7. The main male, Colt, was HOT and a perfect match for Hope.
8. The romance between Colt and Hope was realistic and perfect for the storyline.
9. All loose ends were tied up by the end of the book and I wasn't let down.
10. Last but not least was Katie Lane's writing style. It was just as strong as it was in Going Cowboy Crazy.
