About the Author

Pip Lincolne grew up in a DIY family. Her dad sewed her lovely dresses; her mum made her orange sorbet; her brother fashioned little houses for her dolls; her sister drew and her nanna knitted, sewed, baked ... you name it! Raised on such handmade fare, there was never any doubt that a crafty life lay ahead. Pip lives above her popular craft store Meet Me at Mike s, in Melbourne s Fitzroy, with her lovely family. Make Hey While the Sun Shines is her third book, following on from the success of Meet Me at Mike s and Sew La Tea Do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! 15 April 2012
By Lupita
Format:Hardcover
Pip's inviting and chatty style continues - it grabs you and involves you from the word go. The projects suit everyone from beginners to expert crafters and the photography and design is lovely. I love this book and use it regularly to make gifts for friends. I highly recommend it!

2.0 out of 5 stars disappointed! 8 Nov 2011
Format:Hardcover
I was expecting a book filled with crafts to do at home - like Pip's other books. I was really disappointed - it is mainly full of lovely photographs - lacks crafting content!

1.0 out of 5 stars Banal, unoriginal and basic craft ideas 18 April 2012
Format:Hardcover
The craft ideas don't measure up to the quality and originality available on craft blogs and through places like Flickr, Etsy, Ravelry etc. And other craft books.

It's a dandy package, pattern pieces and vintage-vibe book/page design/photography and golly-gosh breathlessly-girlish prose style. But it's like that's all trying to distract you from the craft designs.

I doubt I'll buy another in this series. I've been crafting since childhood, more expertly at some crafts than others and I've made nothing from any of these books, and have been exasperated more often than delighted.

If you've never done any craft, you may find these books fresh and new.

I was also hugely disappointed that the author recently asked her blog readers (hardly likely to be an 'unhappy' campers or an unbiased group), to add to the reviews here, as there were some 'unhappy' ones here. Poor form, IMHO. Thus the final choice of one star.

I love books that provide pattens in pockets and are spiral bound, so that they lie flat when you are crafting - and this book does both. Read more
