Review

'Brisk, shrewd and full of useful tips.' -- Daily Telegraph

From the Author

You can Make Exams Easy if you know how.
I wrote this book because I know that exams can be much easier than you think and also because hard work alone is no guarantee of success in examinations.

As well as providing some simple, practical tools and advice, the book encourages you to change your whole attitude to exams and should leave you feeling much more confident. The techniques are well proven and have helped me greatly through many levels of exam including professional studies and a Masters Degree.

Sadly, most schools, colleges and universities devote little or no time to the importance of how students should approach exams. Invariably, my students have commented on how useful they found the advice. Also, I hope it is a little more than a coincidence that my daughter has just achieved 8 GCSE grades A* and 2 grades A, and my son is enjoying similar levels of success in his degree studies at Cardiff University.

I hope you will find it useful and I'd be grateful to receive your comments.

I was first intoduced to this book about five months ago by a friend at University. I initially bought the book in order to obtain tips for the exam itself and the books provides these in a logical, concise manner. However, the scope of the book ranges far beyond this. It adopts a holistic approach to studying and exams that really has helped me. Since I have had this book, my outlook and approach towards studying has changed dramatically and I feel I am better (and calmer!) because of it. The impressive thing about this book is that it is written in an easy to understand and unthreatening manner (even though it conveys highly sophisticated insights) and thus It is accessible to anyone. In short, If you want a book that is excellently written that will show you how to study and approach exams, buy this!

As both a teacher and somebody who was a student not so long ago, I feel compelled to recommend this book to anyone. If Mr Evans' objective was to demystify the exam process, then he has certainly succeeded. Having dispelled the myths that create a culture of 'fear and dread', he then goes on to prescribe a new approach to studying. And this is an approach that you cannot help but be inspired by! Many of my GCSE and A level students have, on my recommendation, got hold of this book and now hold it accountable for their recent successes!! This is the beauty of this book; it takes two hours two read and it changes the way that you think.
Although this book is primarily about exams and is most probably intended for those who are new two exams; I have to admit that its message echoed in my head as I completed my Master's degree thesis. I guess this means that (A) it is an approach to studying as well as just exams and (B) your never to old to learn.
Try it!

As a mature student I found this particular book the best on the subject of revision and working towards passing exams. It is very easy to read the layout is very clear, the book is stimulating and helps build the confidence you need to succeed.

The author does not talk down to you and makes it all seem doable after all.

An excellent book, buy it if you can!
