5.0 out of 5 stars a genuinely great starter set of watercolours 30 July 2010
Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Ignore the detractors. This is a genuinely and easily accessible set of watercolours for the neophyte. The colours are good. The paints themselves are easy to work with. Ultimately, if you are interested in watercolouring, you will probaly want to progress to tubes or a greater range of earthier colours. In the meantime this will be a perfect starting point. They are very easily worked with.

I was debating whether to buy this or the more expensive Reeves set I have bought in the past. I would not hesitate in making that choice again, this is a great little paint set which lasts for ages.

How can Amazon allow a seller to show a picture of a Reeves watercolour box and then provide a completely different make of the product? I have always trusted Amazon and its sellers but, looking at previous reviews, they have been mis-selling for a while and nothing has been done. At least two reviews, dating back 6 months, have highlighted the problem so why do Amazon not do something about it? Are they not interested in maintaining their integrity in the marketplace? What is the point of reviews if no notice is taken of them? I bought this item as we always had Reeves watercolours just like these when I was teaching. I know the Reeves quality is good - which is why I bought it - but I know nothing of this "Major Brushes" make. As a previous review states, it is not worth all the hassle of returning the item - which is, I suppose, what the seller hopes for. Trades Description Act, Amazon.

Good quality blocks of watercolour paint in a sturdy tin. It loses a star because it didn't contain a paintbrush even though there was a groove designed to hold one.

1.0 out of 5 stars EVEN ONE BOUGHT FROM AMAZON IS NOT REEVES 28 Nov 2013
    Verified Purchase
Durability: 1.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 1.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I was very frustrated with this product, just wanted some decent watercolours so ordered it from any old seller only to find out that they're a bunch of s*** major brushes ones, nothing compared to the reeves ones at my school. Figuring its only 2 I ordered it again from amazon themselves just to make sure it's reeves and it was about 5 this time. Still not reeves. Was very pissed off. Luckily amazon having the best customer service in the world refunded me and let me keep it, so thanks :) BUT AVOID!

2.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS NOT A REEVES PAINT BOX SET 22 May 2013
    Verified Purchase
Educational: 1.0 out of 5 stars
Product just arrived and is NOT as shown on the picture and description. What has arrived is a tin with MAJOR BRUSHES written across the centre front and back. Colour Pallet is also different from the one pictured. As this item is a gift for my son and was quite cheap I can't be bothered to waste my valuable time packing it up and visiting the nearest post office (some miles away) to return the item. However I WOULD NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER AGAIN as the item has been misrepresented.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice watercolour set for budding artists 19 Jan 2011
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Normally our girl's painting sessions are a complicated affair involving squidgy bottles of poster paint and inexplicable quantities of water. In an effort to reduce the colateral damage to our furniture, I decided to invest in this set of watercolours.

Instant success! Now, if she wants to paint, it no longer takes 10 minutes to set up the aforementioned paraphernalia. We just open the lid, and get a small jar of rinsing water. She also likes it because there are instantly more colours available, and they are easier to mix. Ok, the colours aren't as intense as her poster paints. However, she still produces nice pictures.

The bottom line is that with a kit like this, it is easier for your kids to paint, and less messy for you as a parent.

    Can't be bad.
