Product Description

Two new die-cut board books featuring the ever-popular Maisy! These attractive, shaped Maisy board books provide the perfect introduction to the theme of transport. Maisy's Fire Engine is die-cut in the shape of a bright red fire engine with Maisy waving along with her friend Cyril. Cyril checks the water in the fire hose, but he sprays it too near to a little black cat, who is scared and climbs onto a house. But brave firefighter Maisy fetches a ladder and brings her down again! Maisy's Train is die-cut in the shape of Maisy's bright green train and takes Maisy and all her friends on a journey through tunnels and up and down valleys.

This is an excellent Maisy book. This edition is a small board type book with thick pages which are easily turned by little fingers. Only really suitable for pre school children.

This story features all the Maisy characters. There are 12 pages of text with the rest of the pages featuring some lovely illustrations. The story about a train journey with everyone waving hello to the geese, goat, rabbit, bird and butterfly they pass is bound to delight any child. The story helps very young children recognise animals and also teaches words like up, down, through and out by illustrating them so well on a train journey up hills, down valleys and through a tunnel.

There is also opportunity to make noises children love like "toot-toot" and "wheeeeeeeee".

Highly recommended. This book is better than the similar fire engine book.

very cute 8 Sep 2002

My 2 year old has fallen in love with trains and this book is very cute. It is definitely made for the younger children but the pictures are very well done.
boring and repetitive illustrations 8 Feb 2012

i got this because my son loves the maisy books and is obsessed with trains, but it stinks. a) it's hardly "shaped" like a train -- a slightly misshapen rectangle with some squiggles at the top doesn't a train make, b) the pictures are so flat and BORING -- there is no background to any of the pages.. no scenery... the train is simply slanted up or down (going up and down a hill) or shows half of it because it's coming out of a tunnel, i mean com'on, that's ridiculous. there's nothing to look at it because the stupid train and its passengers are the same exact thing, so the only OPTION to make the pages interesting IS the background. so why isn't there a background? the only thing that varies is the color of the pages and a single animal in the corner that they say hi to. "hello goat" "hello rabbit". NOT fun at all. i would not recommend. i'm going to buy Choo Choo instead which i saw at the library and is infinitely more fun of a book (each page the train makes a different train noise: puff puff, clack clack, rumble rumble, etc, and the page shape changes with the mountains, the sun sets as it goes along, the scenery changes, the tunnel has a hole in the page. it's very fun!). - http://amzn.to/y585uN
