I was a bit put off by negative reviews but decided to take a chance. I had recently bought a lot more expensive Krups which broke after a few months so it's not all about price. This grinder is adequately large enough for my needs and bigger and sturdier than photos and reviews would suggest. It looks good to me with nice lines, not cheap and tacky. The design flaw is perhaps in the lid which is a little dificult to get off because the switch mechanism has to be eased out of the tiny electrical contact hole on the side of the grinder. Otherwise if it is pulled off hastily the black plastic on/off key could snap. I am not bothered by the lack of a removable bowl...all my grinders have been like that. It is very easy to clean with a damp cloth. Since I use dry nuts and seeds every day, I don't need to clean it every time I use it.
I don't use it for coffee beans. It grinds seeds very well to a fine powder if required. I use a several second pulsing action and use up to 20 or 30 pulses, so you have to be a little patient. The motor is not as powerful as some. I am wary of holding the switch down longer than a few seconds(even though it says 30 seconds is the max) as these types of motors can overheat. For nuts, I recommend cutting up large ones like brazil nuts which could put a strain on the grinder and shaking to mix the contents now and then. My blender is a lot better at chopping nuts whole than this grinder, but does not get such a fine consistency and is not much use with fine gritty seeds like linseed(flaxseed) and sesame. I am treating this grinder with kid gloves as I do not want it to break! So far so good.
