The Main Line Murders - New Edition 2013

Two bodies are found on the railway line near Cramwell Station. The local press name the case, "The Main Line Murders". It is the first recorded case of a serial killer in Old Cramwell, a northern English seaside town in flux, between its industrial past and regenerated future. The first victim is an elegantly dressed woman whose head is so badly crushed it is impossible to identify her from dental records.
As the investigation becomes more complex, Flynn believes the key to solving the case could lie in the dark, secret past of Brampton Psychiatric Hospital. With four possible suspects and a deadly, psychotic killer on the loose, will DI Flynn and his team discover the truth in time to save the next victim?

“It reminded me of Waking the Dead. I recommend it." Alex Andreou - The Editor, Larnaca News
“I found the novel to be intriguing, well written & very interesting & captivating when trying to work out the relationships between the characters & ultimately who committed the murders. For a thought provoking yet generally ‘light read’ I would definitely recommend this book"
- Daxi magazine

1.0 out of 5 stars Comments concerning Sonia Kilvingtons book. 7 Jan 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is highly confusing. More than once it was unclear who the person concerned was, Julia would become Jennifer on the next page whilst describing a single event. It was quite clear that the book had NOT been proofread. Words missing or appearing twice in the same phrase, transposing of words causing them to be in the wrong place, persistent mis-spelling. A competet proof reader would have improved matters. Lastly it was not clear what the story line was about.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Main Line Murders 7 Aug 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
For a first novel The Main Line Murders was a good read. Sure there were a few small spelling mistakes but it didn't take away the enjoyment of the book. I look forward to Sonia's next 'crime', hopefully a sequel featuring D.I Flynn.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent debut novel 9 May 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
To really "get into " a novel, one has to be gripped from the very start , and this is precisely what this novel does. The characters are well developed and believable ,and the action fast. D.I.Flynn and his team have a tough job on their hands as they set out to discover the perpetrator of the horrific murders which have been carried out on their patch. They are not helped by the fact that one of the first victims has been so seriously disfigured that even dental records cannot be utilised to help with an identification. I enjoyed the book, and I wish Ms Kilvington continued success.

1.0 out of 5 stars Tedious 4 Jan 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Very slow story. The murder mystery I expected never materialized. There were a few dead bodies along the way but that particular story line seemed to be more of an afterthought. The focus of the book were several relationships none of which I found very believable. The storylines were very incoherent and recurring spelling and grammatical mistakes made reading the book a chore.

This book really needs editing. The story line did not flow and the characters were weak. Very disappointed with the first book I Ever read on kindle. Would not recommend this book to anyone.

I found this book really frustrating, so much so that this is the first time I've written a review. It sounded promising and I got into the story fairly easily but once more and more characters were included into David and Julia's lives the less detail was given about histories/characters/sub-plots. I ended up not really caring about what happened to anyone as the characters were very two dimensional, which is a shame because the bones of a good story are there but the whole book just felt rushed.

The book left me with far too many questions and the main theme of the actual murders was too diluted by other stories of alcoholism, domestic violence, workplace politics, difficult family relationships, psychological disorders...the list goes on.

Really disappointing and I probably won't bother with future books from the author. There are much better crime thrillers out there!!
