Having read and enjoyed this excellent book I passed it on to my father, who served in the 6th armoured through WW2, attached to the 16th / 5th Lancers. Unsurprisingly even though he is now 101 he told me that it brought back many vivid memories of battles fought and good mates lost.
This came as no surprise as Ken Ford's marvellous account is both fast moving and brilliantly descriptive of the many fierce actions with which the division was engaged. I finshed it in awe of what my father and the thousands of the brave men who served in the Mailed Fist had to endure in their ultimately victorious campaigns against the Nazis.
