I am always very touched by the intensely emotional and wonderfully expressive singing of Kathleen Ferrier whose voice always induces feelings of exhileration but also of great sadness in me knowing that she died at such a tender age. I find all her available recordings simply enjoyable, despite the associations I have concerning my own personal experience of having lost my own wife at a young age, also through cancer.
Somehow, listening to Katheleen Ferrier recordings of Mahler, accompanied by the incredible Bruno Walter and the Vienna Philhamonic contributes to my ability to cope with my own loss.

Much has been written about this legendary recording of Mahler's '11th' Symphony.
The performance here needs no recommendation, praise, review etc. It is self-recommending. The only reservation I had before buying is the sound quality. Let me tell you, do not worry, it is absolutely fine. This CD needs to be bought. A true great of the catalogue.
