I was steadily awaiting Sons of Season's second effort with fear that they could not do it again. Then I caught wind today that they released a new album "Magnisphyricon". I quickly copped a copy with glee like a little kid with a new toy. And to tell you the truth they exceeded my expectations. This album is beautiful. The music textures will blow you away. Just as the first, this album is not filled with super complex material but they brought this together in a creative melting pot of Metal ideas. Tempos are all over the place and fit together like a weird puzzle but not in a way where you get lost. Henning Basse's clean vocals on this album are nothing short of spectacular. A complete singer if I ever heard one. He plays with his voice on this album (like the first) giving you the emotions needed to get you interested and hook you into paying attention. You will hear high pitch screaming on this album. They are put in at the right times and are not overdone. The synths are alive and odd as ever; giving you that dark feeling and filling in where needed. Oliver Palotai (Kamelot keyboardist) has done it again and gave us a brilliant album. I hate to say it but this album blows the new Kamelot album into nothingness. This album is everything that Kamelot's new album is not. Heavy at times that transition into gracious sweet melodies. The power is not lost in translation and that is what excites me with this album. "Bubonic Waltz", "Sanctuary", "Lilith", "Casus Belli II: Necrologue To The Unborn" and "Yesteryears" are stand out tracks in my opinion. Not one dull song on this album and again no filler songs. Every song is excellent from beginning to end. Support and buy this album. Five stars for Sons of Season. An exceptional album and worth getting for the Prog-Metal fan.
