I have read this book twice now.. Robert dismantles so many previously-held theories and mysteries about global extinction events, and then uses scientific evidence to back up what REALLY happened. I had previously read his book "Not by Fire But by Ice" which I would recommend reading first. Putting the two together provides a "chilling" picture! Basically, we need to recognise that Darwin was mostly wrong.. evolution is not a slow process. Evolution happens in breathtaking leaps soon after mass extnction events.. and it's NOT all down to a few stray asteroids either!

Magnetic reversals, magnetic excursions.. the major effects of our sun on seismic and volcanic activity.. massive irradiation events.. and the REAL reason for the Tunguska explosion in 1918.. finally, why extinctions, magnetic reversals, ice ages, major volcanic/seismic activity, are periodic.. and how we are already due for a "Little Ice Age".. glaciers are GROWING in 99% of glaciated areas.. sea levels are DROPPING.. right here, right now.. why? Because water is being locked up as snow and ice on land already.

Although the subject COULD be dry and boring, Robert takes you through, step by step.. he teases, he leads you..., then he drops bombshell after bombshell. You don't need to be a scientist to understand his work. The book also blows man-made climate change theory out of the water!

HIGHLY recommended!

Fascinating! 23 Jan 2009

I found this book to be utterly fascinating! I highly recommend it! Schools have replaced science with non-science and this book brings back a lot of science ... wonderful and easy read. Frankly, it should be in the library of every school.

Interesting theory 13 April 2009
By Nelson - Published on Amazon.com

Having just watched a recent PBS special on the possible causes for the extinction of the ice age mammals, this book offered another alternative. A legitimate case is made for such extinctions due to magnetic reversals. The book is easily read and not difficult to understand. What it deserves now is more comprehensive and complete investigation by the scientific community. Given the biases of that system towards orthodox ideas, one wonders if such will ever occur. Perhaps only the inevitable geomagnetic reversal will ultimately resolve the mystery.

Hold onto your hat! 15 Mar 2009
By patriciaruth - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I heard about magnetic pole reversals long ago when I was a kid, but this is the first book I've seen on the subject of what may happen to life on earth when the reversals happen, and why they happen and how often.

This must read book is a surprisely easy read despite all the science discoveries and information included.

I hope the author will in the future correlate human history with this theory about what happens in magnetic pole excursions and reversals as it may explain why some old cultures believe that the world cycles through eras and all is destroyed at the end of each era, like the Mayans calendar going to 2012 for their next doomsday, I think. And why human beings were almost wiped out about 85,000 years ago and down to maybe around 100 survivors.
